Battery drain issue after 4.4.3

Here is mine (installed 4.4.3 about 24 hours ago):

FWIW, I use automatic screen brightness and, as you can see, I have a strong Wi-Fi connection in my office and strong cellular connection as well. I don't know how much that plays into this issue although all three are known to have some effect on battery life.

Here are my stats, after wiping Dalvik cache. I used to get a lot better battery life.

My battery life has been horrible after the 4.4.3 update, too. After ten hours of standby, my battery had drained about 15%.

Before the update I was draining about 3% in the same 10 hours of standby each night. Google Play Services kept my device awake for about an hour per every 24 hours, but it seems to have disappeared, for now at least.

WiFi, Cell Standby and Phone idle were the three biggest battery users. There was no time during this period without a signal. GPS is set to device only, Location Reporting and Location History are off, along with most sync options and Google Now always listening. Brightness is also set to 10% or less most of the time.

I just cleared the cache partition, so we'll see if battery life improves.

Overnight I had a 1% drop (9 hours), so from that end I was good, but I've been playing with my phone more, so I haven't judged the battery life accurately. I'm done with that for now, wiped the cache, and ready to see how it goes over the next few days.

This is from this morning. This is normal use for me. I usually have the brightness on full, always use LTE. I have google hotwords enabled on Nova launcher.

Ok, so a couple days after i've deleted the app cache (via the settings menu, not recovery mode boot), things seem to be back to normal, and even slightly better than before the update.

Phone off the overnight charger at 6:30 this morning. It's 8:15 PM now and I still have 70% battery. Screen time was 1h 10m, brightness at 1/3, wifi on, location set to "device only", e-mail, facebook and others syncing in the background.

I'm a happy camper once again. Huge thanks to those of you that suggested wiping the cache!

My battery also has been draining. When I looked at battery use, the #1 was Google+. Since I don't use it at all, I uninstalled it. Now screen is #1 at 31% usage and Android OS is #2 with 23%. I just cleared the cache after reading thru this thread. Hopefully these changes will take care of the battery drain.

I don't even know what thread mine was posted to!!!!! UG!!

Anyway, after the update my battery usage on 9 hours idle (T-Mobile, zero screen ontime, WiFi on and in range, bluetooth on but not connected, location tracking off, ART, Google Now off) went from the normal 4% to an insane 20-25%! I did end up clearing the cache partition (with NO OTHER CHANGES) and it has returned to 4% again. So I am happy.

My happiness didn't last long. Yesterday when I got home from work I checked my phone and it was back to 20+% of the battery gone during 9 hours of idle. Rebooted, and today it is back to 4% again. Very irritating.

I don't understand how I have the same phone using the same settings and don't get anywhere near that battery life.

Deleting cache via Settings deletes some of your App data. Wiping the Cache via Recovery does not.

Clearing an app's individual cache in the Settings>Apps menu shouldn't really delete any significant personal data--it's only temporary stuff the app uses to work more quickly and efficiently. You shouldn't have to relogin to the app.

Radio signal, as well as how often you synch can play a bit part in battery life, as can using 3G vs 4G.

Can you expand on this? Does that just mean I'll have to re-login to some of my apps after deleting the cache?

When the app is installed and run, there's a program cache the system creates that's independent of the individual app cache/data. The only way to clear it is though the recovery screen, and the reason it helps is that there can be old config data for your old install causing problems.

Using the settings/apps cache clearing won't do that, as that's mostly just a bunch of temp files (though that can be cleaned up as well). Deleting data will , well, delete your data.

I'm getting phenominal battery life now that I upgraded.Phone was at 97% with little use 3 hours off the charger, and with some more use 8 hours in I'm near 85%. Usually would be closer to 70%.

Note, my battery % display was strange, so I ran it mostly out of battery (under 10%) and charged it up to 100%. It's possible it's a battery calibration rating issue and not an issue with the actual battery usage.
