Battery drops from 100% within minutes

I decided to give Samsung phone another try. Got the S21 Ultra and I have noticed that on this phone, like all my previous Samsung phones, whenever the battery is at 100%, it drops within just 2-3 minutes of normal use. Not that it is a problem, but other Android phones that I have used in the past, Huawei, pixel, oneplus, at least stay on 100% for at least over 15 minutes of use.

Is this just the way Samsung handles its battery? Do other users notice this as well?

I've always noticed that behavior on all of my phones, and I've had Pixels since the 1st gen.

That's fairly normal, just cause it drops to 99% fast doesn't mean the battery is messed up, I'd be more concerned if the phone was dying in under a day not whether it stays at 100 percent for awhile.

Thanks. As I thought. But just notice that it happens moreso on Samsung Phones and not other ones that I have had. Battery so far has been lasting me.

Was just wondering if others do notice that as well on their phones.

Also the other thing I forgot to mention is the battery indicator is different depending on the manufacturer like Apple will stay at 100 percent but the battery is at a lower state of charge than samsungs 99 percent

The battery indicator on my S21 Ultra drops from 100% to 99% within a minute or two after I take it off the charger. However, I usually get 2-3 days of use out of it before charging again. My wife's iPhone 12 Pro gets put on the charger every night.

I guess I just do not trust it enough to try to go 2-3 days without charging it. I get low battery anxiety. On average, at the end of my 8 hours workday my percentage is at 70%, having use my phone throughout the workday. I am usually around 50-40% by the time I go to bed. I then leave it on during the night so that it drains a bit so I then quickly charge it back up to 100% in the morning before I go to work.

What does your average day time %?

What are others charging routines? I always feel like I have to start the day off with 100%

Yeah normal on Samsungs , one plus and pixels little longer

Yeah this is something I’ve noticed as well. So I turned the battery percentage off and haven’t looked back since

It's actually something I've only noticed on the S21 Ultra. Although I've only owned two previous Samsungs before - S7 and S9+. Both these devices tended to drop from 100% to 99% (in standby with AOD always enabled) after 30-60 minutes. With the S21 Ultra, it only takes more like 10-20 minutes. Subsequently though (in standby with AOD always enabled), it tends to take the usual 30-60 minutes to drop 1% point.

So yes, I've noticed it drop from 100% to 99% much faster than even previous models of Samsungs.

Same here, have not used battery percentage for years now on all my phones and never missed it. I don't need to know the exact percentage at all times and increase anxiety

Well when not on a charger the battery will drain.

Dont focus on a few percentage points, focus on how long you get out of a charge.

My older Galaxy phones starting 10 years ago up would generally drop 10% in an hour of use. I don't watch it like a hawk anymore, seems S21/S21U are fine.

It was the battery usage that chose to buy an IPhone - and it was slower drain.

At least the Galaxy will alert me of high background usage as it did with Google Photos recently, which I uninstalled as don't use it. And I tend to disable a number of apps - Chrome, Bixby, and now at least Facebook can be uninstalled but I disable FB services.

Having watch, buds, VPN, AdGuard Pro probably contribute.

I assume, you wake up a system it's going to be busy loading services and refreshing as it checks for updates.

I noticed after the last update a slightly faster battery drain. But it was consistent not just after taking off charge. Couldn't track it down to anything suspect. I just noticed I wasn't getting the usual times between charges with no change in my usage. Hoping the next update goes back to how it was.

After updates it is normal for there to be more processing going on, yes? and clear the cache partition, see if that helps - it often does.

I would not let the fact that the battery prevent drops quickly on the S21 Ultra tarnish how good the phone is. I've had this phone for about a week. This is my latest battery stats
