Hi,

After May security patch on my Pixel 2 (smaller sibling), the battery performance has taken a nose dive. It used to be great earlier till April Security update. I am very light user and used to easily get 3.5-4Hrs SOT on a span of average battery drainage period of 2 days. Now, I am hardly getting 2-2.5 Hrs SOT on a avarage battery drainage period of just 18hrs-24 hrs.

My usage post and pre- May security patch are still the same. No new app has been added. I have restarted the phone multiple time. I tjought may be other people might be getting this issue and will share their experience but I guess its not a mass problem.

Please suggest, if there is anything which I can do just to check, what might be causing the battery drain problem. Otherwise best solution seems for me to wait until June for the next security patch release.

Thanks

Are you able to go into your settings > battery > advanced battery usage, and see if any apps in particular are using a lot of battery? Maybe post a screenshot?

It may be worth also checking out the Android P beta. If you are a very light user it could limit the chances of you running into apps that don't work, bugs, that sort of thing. The Android P beta has a new adaptive battery function that limits apps from draining your battery. I've seen significant improvements to my battery since giving it a go, though I didn't have issues such as yours prior either. I'm getting 6-8 hours of screen on time right now with my Pixel 2 XL on a full charge.

Call me crazy but this is why I like to do factory resets after updates. Something always breaks for me. Sounds to me like you may need it.

Hi Joltcola1234

Thanks for your suggestion.

I really don't feel like trying Android P at this point of time. As if i need to revert back, I need to again backup the data and restore, which I feel is a sort of tedious job for me. However, I am uploading the screenshot. Pls check and suggest, just in case, I am missing something.
