Battery life after about 2 weeks

Exactly. And that is why people make threads like this so we can see what people's real world usage really is. I can read a sites generic tests and gain nothing from it. This thread is not meant for that.

Except your "real world" is different from his, hers, theirs, etc. That's why some people gets 6 hrs, some got 4, some got 2, what do these numbers mean for anybody who are trying to make a purchase decision?

They can read a forum like this and see people's usage. If someones usage on here stacks up to theirs, then they can see what they will be looking forward to. But that's not even what I made this thread for. I just wanted to help people if they weren't getting what is possible out of the phone.

I'm curious, how do you intend to do this? How do you determine if people are getting what's possible out of this phone?

@T-Mobile GN3

By knowing their usage and comparing to mine. I have a fairly good Idea of what uses battery more or less than other things. Maybe there's a runaway app that someone isn't aware of that keeps waking the device. Maybe they have something turned on that they aren't aware of that is chewing through their battery. I've seen soooo many people on these forums that have returned the phone because the battery is "awful". And with my usage and experience, I think some can get more out of the phone instead of just returning it. That's aside from the folks who thought they'd get the battery life of a note 3 and come away utterly disappointed.

This is the last thing I'm gonna say. If you don't like it, then swallow it and move on man.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

so in summary, there are people who believe their own "usage" somehow are typical of others, and can predict if others using their phone "properly". So the thread is really meant to "wake up" those who "don't use their phone properly", so they will not return the phone due to bad battery life.

Gotcha, this is a thread created specifically to defend the device, not intended to provide objective info for potential buyers. I guess I am in the wrong discussion after all, so byebye ;)

Holy quotations, Batman. Aside from that, you clearly don't understand that people actually -use- their phones and that they can discern how their battery life would be based on usage patterns from other people. Your entire premise that rundown tests are even remotely helpful is hilarious.

I usually stay out of internet fighting/nerd raging but I feel the need to chime in here. Seeing how other people use their phone(screen usage, amount of texting, time they spend watching Youtube, etc) can absolutely help people predict how their battery life experience will be. Will it be dead on accurate? No considering signal strength plays a big part however it's very helpful. It's not a hard concept to understand(then again you ARE a Cowboys fan so I understand the lack of comprehension lol ;) )

Clevin since you own a Samsung Notes 3. You even told people not to buy the Nexus 5 since it doesn't have a SD card slot. I was just wondering what you are doing on the Nexus 5 board where people that have Nexus 5 are trying to get information about how their N5 to make sure it is working the same as other people's N5?

Clearly this thread is about people with the N5 that are comparing their battery up time to other people's N5 battery up time.

I still don't think Google Now uses much power but it came in at #10. I guess since it is easy to turn off and you can always just push the button to activated Google Now.

Nexus 5 Top 10 Battery Saving Tips

I have no doubt in my mind that turning off Google now, you'll see a slight increase in battery life. Maybe not, but I wouldn't doubt it'll help. That being said, I've never had a problem with it on my note 2, HTC one, and now the N5. If it did really drain my battery excessively, I'd find a way to keep it on cause I like it so much. Lol

I took this last night (or this morning). I have everything on (battery saving mode) except the phone still isn't on a carrier yet so no radio. All WiFi.

Being on LTE half the day during normal usage, it doesn't do too much damage to the battery life. I get just a little less usage during the week than on the weekend when I'm mostly on WiFi. But that looks about the same as mine, which is good!

Yes, when I saw your screen shots I knew I was getting similar so I posted. I have no complaints at all. :):beer:

So I had the Facebook app uninstalled for a little while because it was always running and I didn't like that. When it wasn't installed I notice a slight increase on battery life. I had recently installed it again and surprise surprise, it is always running and there's a noticeable decrease in battery life. Enough for me to not want the app anymore. The notifications are nice but it ain't worth it.

I had key vibration on. I also had Facebook installed. And I shut off Google now as well. Let's see how my battery life fares.

Were you not getting good battery life?

I'm getting horrific battery life compared to others in this thread, I have:
Google Sync off
Art enabled
Touch sounds and clicks off
LTE off
Google now and history reporting all off
Gps on battery saving mode

How much are you watching Netflix? Has art affected the battery life in any way? And are you rooted?
