Battery life after about 2 weeks

I've been having issues with my battery lately... right now I'm at 38% and the phone has been on battery for 8h 44m 56s.
1. Screen = 30%, Time on = 49m 25s
2. Google Services = 13%, CPU Total = 2m 52s, Keep Awake = 43m 11s
3. Wi-Fi = 9%, have NOT turned on my WiFi in like a week (I never use it at home, as I have DSL internet that blows)
4. Android OS = 9%, CPU total = 8m 21s, Keep Awake = 14m 57s
5. Phone Idle = 8%
6. Cell Standby = 7%
7. Google+ = 5%
8. Android System = 4%
9. Hangouts = 3%
10. Chrome = 3%

What the hell is Google Services and why is it using so much battery? Also, how am I under an hour of screen time and already under 40% battery... when I see you guys having 3-5 hours of on screen time with the same amount of battery used.

Go into WiFi advanced settings and shut of the always scanning feature. I noticed that even with WiFi off, that option caused wifi to use some battery.

How much are you watching Netflix? Has art affected the battery life in any way? And are you rooted?

I watched about 3 episodes of White Collar for about 120 minutes of Netflix streaming. I didn't notice a huge improvement with art but I think it helped. FYI - I'm not rooted.

I know there are a few threads out there that have covered battery life already. I've read a lot about it and even in the review that Alex did, people were bashing on the battery life in the comments. So after two weeks, I think we all have solid opinions on our own devices. Please if you'd like to post your battery results, post screenshots of screen time and total usage time so people don't accuse you of lying. If you're getting great battery life, please share. If your battery life sucks, please share and maybe we can figure out why! This is my battery life. I'm a heavy user and I'm very happy with this.

I love the phone itself, but I miss my LG Pro and the battery life it gave me. I also miss being able to swap out the battery.

My Nexus is giving me about 17 hrs before I have to plug it in. I am a moderate user though.

That's not bad for this phone. And I'll be the first one to tell you there are phones with better battery life. But for what it's worth, I think it's plenty.

I wonder why the battery life on the N5 gets such a bad wrap when it is almost the same results as the Moto X, which is considered to have great battery life?

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying it's as good as it in terms of battery life. I have seem substantially better results for the moto x than I have the n5. BUT I still think the n5 plenty good for what it's worth. And I do agree, it really shouldn't be so downgraded like it is.

Here's a little update on my battery life.

And a little note, this is with ART enabled. I had switched to dalvik for a couple days and I wasn't getting as good of battery life. I was getting around 3-3:30 on screen throughout about 10-11 hours. I forgot to take screenshots to compare it, but I swear by ART that it helps increase battery life.

And it may look like I charged it for a bit at some points, but I didn't. I think there's a glitch with 4.4 that sometimes makes your battery percent increase without it charging...it happens on my nexus 7 2013 after updating to 4.4 as well. And I'll even catch it sometimes when it went from like 7%-8% without charging. Its really weird.

Here is my battery life. Rooted with a custom rom and kernel. Light user, mostly surfing, and texting. 45 mins of listening to music and 30 mins on BT.

SOT @ 2%.jpgbattery status @ 2%.jpg

Very nice. Basically if you don't play games, you can easily get 5?- 6 hours of screen on. Or even longer like this!

What ROM and kernel?

Cataclysm Rom and Faux kernel UC @ 1700/300MHz no undervolt. Running on 4.4.1. I dont game. I get about 4-5 hours and that really depend on my data signal. With the 7 hours of SOT I was at home 90% of the time and my signal was very good.

Yeah I was gonna say, that's a lot of screen on time. And it seems like you were using it pretty much constantly so you didn't have to worry about standby time.
