Battery life after Oreo

High Battery Efficiency ...?

Does this amount of battery efficiency seem high to anyone? Granted this is a lighter day of usage than usual. Not that I'm complaining, but sheesh ...

My battery life has taken a huge hit since the upgrade. The OS and Bluetooth are the biggest drains at 57% and 17% respectively overnight when I was not using my phone at all. The phone had started at 90% before going to bed and was at 16% 7 hours later. The phone gets much hotter than it used to when playing any games, taking calls ans charging on a portable battery. I've cleaned out as much as I can and updated everything that had an update and it is worse than ever. I have never had to turn off my Bluetooth before but it looks like I have to now. Suffice it to say, I am very unhappy with this update. I am attached to a wire constantly which defeats the purpose.

Re: High Battery Efficiency ...?

To be honest? Not really. You should be getting better battery life than that.

I learned my battery loss was due to GPS being on due to the Storm Radar app. Not because of Oreo. I since turned the GPS to battery saving (network only) and getting great battery life again.

Is that right? What should I expect for the regular size Pixel at this point? Day One owner, so battery is coming up on it's anniversary.

Go into your Storm Radar app and send feedback to the developer. It probably hasn't been properly updated to handle Android 8.0.

I too have been experiencing horrible battery life since updating. I believe have found the culprit. After looking at the battery info in settings I noticed that the Bluetooth battery usage seemed high. I tried turning off the Bluetooth when I left home today. In my 25 minute commute my battery had been dropping to about 85% by the time I got to work. Today with the Bluetooth turned off I got to work with 98%. That was with a 10 minute longer commute due to a wreck. I only use Bluetooth for calls in the car (which has been finicky since updating), my fitbit and my Moto 360 2015. At least my Moto 360 can work without Bluetooth while in at work or home, but I'd like to see an actual fix.

I do not use BT. Battery life for me on my Pixel has been superb. I am at 3+ hr SOT after 14 hours off the charger and 43% left in the tank. I get absolutely garbage signal at work and work WiFi is terribly slow as well. Overall this is better than Nougat for me and actually is better than my Galaxy S8 as well. I am very happy with the battery life so far.

Re: High Battery Efficiency ...?

Sorry, didn't mean to include that screenshot twice! Typical day's usage and typical battery life for me, but there are so many factors that affect the battery life that comparing one person's figures to somebody else's is pretty meaningless.

Mine is actually horrible. The screen usage is at less than a half hour and it's already more than half way drained? I was at work all day and barely used it, Oreo has ruined my phone making it barely usable.

Wow, that's less than half of what I get on my Pixel. When did you update to Oreo? Some people say it has taken them anywhere from a couple days to a week for things to "level out". Mine has been pretty good from day 1 of download. Definitely better than Nougat. No factory data reset either. I hope you get yours figured out quickly.

Did a factory reset on my pixel two days ago and things have finally settled down for me. Was hesitant to do it but my battery life was really horrendous and this was already with almost everything I could think of turned off and it still didn't make a difference. Now I am seeing good results

Anyone having issues with the battery stats screen not updating after you fully charge? For example, I fully charged my phone last night, unplugged it this morning and 2 hours later it showed it had been unplugged for 18 hours and I had 3 hours of SOT. Only way to fix it was to "clear data" on the "settings" app.

My battery life dropped drastically when I got Android 8, just as it did with Android 7 and 6. It had to do with me playing with it to see what had changed, to try out the new features, and to see if I had any bugs. After a couple of days it was fine again.
