Battery life after Oreo

I can't compare Oreo to Nougat since I just got the Pixel 3 weeks ago and Oreo has been on it since day 1. However, it did seem that battery life on Oreo improved after I finally got the Sep security update a week ago. It was a much larger download compared to the update on my Pixel C, so I'm thinking there were bug fixes and improvements also.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I've got the same problem. Battery used to go all day and into the evening on a single charge. If I gamed on the train ride home, I could expect it to be pretty dead by the time dinner rolled around.

Now?

Pulled it off the charger at 5:30am. At 11:30 it hit 15%. That's listening to MP3s on the train and subsequent walk to work (2hrs) and a few texts.

I've also had awful battery life since the Update. When I check to see which apps are using it up, it says the Clock is. How can this be?

Lol..sorry, but that one's pretty funny. I'm having same issues and more and am now wondering if this is a ploy for Google to get us to by the Pixel 2 and are doing this intentionally to the 1 phones

Wow, never thought about that. I sure hope it's not true. I do want a Pixel 2 but I'm hoping to sell my first Pixel to recoup a little money. I sure hope Google is not sabotaging my Pixel. Also, if the 2 is not enough of an upgrade to justify the price, I'd like to stick with my current Pixel. It'd be easier to keep if it worked correctly though. So far, my Pixel has been fine after the update. I just hope it stays that way.

I've turned off all my Google notifications last night and my battery has gone back to what I had before this upgrade.

hopefully I've sorted the issue which has been making me wonder where's my 14-16 battery life gone to 6-8 hours.

This is crazy. I restarted the phone last night while plugged in to the charger (after draining down to <5%). Used it as usual today, and now after a little more than 3 hours of screen on time, it's only down to 54%. And the app using the most is Facebook 10% and Nova launcher 8%. No mention of the Clock at all. I'm pleased it seems to be back to normal, but totally confused about what happened.

Alright, I did a factory reset over the weekend, and got the phone updated before installing anything. Off the charger at 5:30am, and at 8:16 it's still at 85%. I'll check it at 11:30 to see where it's at, but hopefully it won't be 15% again.

This is still not as good as it was when I first got it, but at least it's usable as a phone now (I hope). Having a phone that I have to charge 3x a day isn't really of much use.

Ok, 72% at 11:30am, so I'd say the factory reset did the trick. Must have had something hang with the Oreo update. Who knows? At least it's better now.

Factory reset without restoring from backup worked for me. I can get between 3-4 screen time, which I think is reasonable.

My battery life on Nougat was very solid, on every full charge I get 6-7 hours of SOT. Now, I'm getting less than half of that (about 3 hours). Is it just me or are u guys having the problem?
Yeah, and this is the first time my pixel have continuous lags, it's annoying

What version of Nougart were you using before the Oreo Update ?

Is this normal ? I got my phone on Monday and I updated it to Oreo. Did a factory reset before I started installing apps and others . It gets hot at times and I feel I should be getting better battery life. Please advice. Thanks

that's more than normal with many users getting just about 9 hours since the update.

I'm on 18% after 16 and half hours with just under 3 hours screen time.

I'm so happy with 7.1.2
I never will move to Oreo. I don't care about security patches or updates, my Pixel works so perfect.
Over 6 hours SOT and 15% power left. Or over 4 hours and 46% power left. I love it.

You guys all get much better battery life than me. After the update I still have to plug in after 7-8 hours.

I was very pleased with battery life of my Nexus 6P while it was still on Nougat. I'm rarely using it heavily during the day. With normal usage it was able to last even 2 full days. But after I updated to Oreo few month ago it's totally unpredictable. Sometime, during the night is all fine - no more than few percentages of battery are lost. Battery usage line is almost horizontal. But sometime it uses battery constantly and if it was 100% at evening at morning it at only 20% left ?!? Can't find what's draining the battery - it says system. I turned off everything I could except WiFi. My router is in next room and WiFi signal is ok. Not full, but above half of max poower (5G). Today I installed Greenify app to see will it help. I'm really thinking of returning back to nougat. :(
