Battery Life discussion thread.

I am surprised how much Samsung phone owners are expected to do to help battery. Using dark mode, using power optimiser, setting AOD off, disable 120hz etc etc. I don't understand how a phone like the P30 Pro doesn't require any of these alterations and just kills this battery issue. iPhone too.

Yeah I have recently had the P40 Pro and the Mate Xs and they both kick @§§in the battery department, they go on forever!
As Notefan161 said the Exynos 990 is not very well optimised and unfortunately things have to be sacrificed if you want your battery to last.

Well not buying a Huawei phone without Google apps and China's humanitarian issues. Plus on Verizon I am limited. No Apple products for me for long time ago reasons. Additionally, with my usage the Apple battery has always been horrible for me.

I won't cripple the device unless I am going to be away from the charger all day. Additionally hard to judge true battery life on 3 days usage.

Pretty average battery life for me, nothing spectacular. Can probably milk around 5.5 hours of screen on time if I wanted to get closer to Zero but I'd rather just charge it. I was getting around the same on the Note10+. I have high performance mode with FHD+ and 120hz enabled.

Do you use Smartswitch or Samsung Cloud to move your info across to your new phones ?

I actually used SMS Backup and restore pro. It was 4.99 in the app store. I usually have them use smart switch in the store but this time around I just used that app to restore the texts and call history. You can backup to Dropbox or Google drive. I backed up to both. You can also set it to do a backup and save your texts and stuff once a week or once a day, etc.

I'm no way affiliated with the app. I just did a Google search and found an article on android central or something so I went with that. Easy and did the job.

BTW almost 12 hours into my phone and I'm at 61%

^^ REALLY?? ^^

Wow my Note 10+ was pretty good.

Thats a note 10+. My s10+ was awesome at first and then about 7bor 8 months in the batterybstarted dropping off. I was lucky to get 4 to 5 hours sot after a day of listening and light use. With the note 20 after a full day of streaming music and heavier use im getting closer to 9 hours sot.

The other day I took the phone off the charger at 6AM. I streamed music for about 5 hours, played a ton of games, streamed a full hockey game, and other random things through out the day. When I put the note back on the charger around 11 pm it was around 4% battery life and just over 8 hours sot. My S10+ would have been on the charger around 4pm.

To be honest keeping text messages etc isn't at the forefront of my wants and needs.

I would like to move from my N10+ 5G to the N20 Ultra the following.

Calendar entries.
Notes.
Contacts that are stored in the phone.
The various email accounts.
Various logins.
Samsung Internet Bookmarks.

I can use my library in my Playstore for the apps.

I regularly back up to Samsung Cloud but I want as a fresh install as possible but keep the important stuff.

Well in fairness iPhones don't need to worry as its a basic interface and the os is built differently

Also battery life issues or limitations is due to exynos. SD models are fine

Hopefully exynos 1000 fixes these issues

This isn't the case for all as I've come across other posts in other forums from SnapDragon versions experiencing battery drain.

Right now I'm thinking it's also to do with how we set our individual phones up.

With Android being so open sourced and customisable it's not surprising people are experiencing different user experiences.

Hate to hear everybody having problems with their note.

A new phone is gonna have to go threw a learning stage.

And signal strength is very important. Especially when there is no wifi.

Got up around 2:00 am
My stomach was bothering me from the benadryl.

My phone was around 79%

Thought I'd plug it in while I got a bowl of cinnamon life cereal.
And some horizon whole organic milk.

I plugged my phone in to a old USB-c cord i have..
I got a message that said , do you want to turn fast charging on.
I said yes.
My phone was charged in a couple minutes.

Do y'all not have the opportunity to plug your phone in at work when the battery gets low.

I use that app too. Actually looks like I hadn't set it up since I reset my phone so thanks for the reminder. First app I usually download onto a phone.

This morning I have now 2.14 h/m SoT out of 2.28 h/m since I took it off the charger and there is 74% battery left.
Exynos 5G 12gb/256gb version, been using it since Wednesday.

Can you throw up a screenshot please ?

Did you set up your phone from a Samsung Cloud back up or Smartswitch ?

In this day and age I assume most people have chargers around where they visit , work or go to school at and or have power banks.

I work in a Warehouse and have a Samsung Charging Pad near a PowerPoint.

I think the main issue for some is that the phone may not get them through a day without having to charge it.

I didn't take one at that point but here is one from just now, today I'll run it down to 2 or 3% and time it using the 45W charger and then I'll do it again soon with the 25W from the box, I want to see for myself if there's any difference.
I did use SmartSwitch and backup, I didn't set up from scratch, cleared cache afterwards.

It seems to be doing OK and better than expected after looking at some early reviews, but I don't game on my phones so it's never going to get pushed to the limits. I understand the camera uses quite a lot of juice also.
Yesterday the Note got off the charger in the morning and for the rest of the day it managed 5hrs 15mins SOT. It hasn't gone back on the charger yet and its done an hour of SOT today with 40% battery left.
Browsing, Notes, camera and setting up is my usage right now.

I would imagine that a camera like in this device would be power hungry alright but for holidays and so on where I take lots of pics I normally have a powerbank with me to top up over the day, even just a small little 5000mAh one is handy.

Yeah everybody uses their phones differently. I have like 6-8 widgets on my pages which could have a knock on battery life. Different ways battery life can be effected

Also takes time I guess for the battery to adjust so ot needs more time than a few days

For me getting to a charger isn't an issue as I have a desk job but it'd not something I want to need to do

On Friday I was on 20% at 17.00 so charged ot up for half an hour and was back to 60% which would last me for the gym and until bed but I guess its something I would rather not need to do really

The speeds for 25w are impressive enough though where you can do that for a quick charge. Makes me wish we had a even faster speeds so can do 50% in 10 mins but I know that would hurt the battery

50% Mark, I'm happy enough so far with results as I know I'll be able to optimise it myself a little as well with settings.
