Battery Life Discussion

My battery is dying quick too, quicker than the Evo.... I have tried all sorts of things.

i've had the same problem - check Latitude and see the settings there. Also, i had some shopping / coupon apps that may have been the problem. i went thru ALL my apps yesterday - over 100 - and double checked the settings. the ones that didn't have settings i deleted. i also deleted Sensorly. i know Latitude was set to have me 'discoverable' and with notification. i disabled all of it. the rest of the day yesterday seemed better but today will be the real test.

HHMMM? Latitude.... I do use that, but i never thought that that would use up background data, but duh it does makes sense...is there a way to manually send someone your location instead of just hiding it?

I just ordered a second battery through Samsung, should be here in about 7 days. Samsung also has an external battery charger for the phone, and it comes with a battery too. Unfortunately that one is out of stock. The external charger can also act as a stand for the phone while the extra batty(ies in my case) are charging.

Battery is $39. External charger and battery is $49.

I see you all posting and wondering what is causing your high battery drain... have you guys looked at your battery use stats. Those are there for a reason, to help you troubleshoot these types of issues. It will tell you which programs/processes are taking what percentage of total power, the screen being usually the highest percentage.

not to beat a dead horse, but has everyone remembered to disable NFC? i remember I did this when I first got the phone after hearing that it was a battery drain, and it seemed like it helped me. This is like my 6th day with my Nexus, so I still have to condition the battery a little more I think. So far, my battery life is ridiculously good. I had the Epic before and it was nowhere near close to what this is getting; it's actually my favorite aspect of the phone (outside of everything else great about it).

i would also suggest turning off push in Email (not Gmail). doing this helped my battery life, but even with it on I can make it a full day easily (with pretty heavy usage). i do have wifi here at work though.
