Battery Life Down with 5.0

I'm pretty disappointed. Maybe once all apps are updated it will be better but for me battery life is slightly worse. I had high hopes this update would improve battery life but so far not so much.

Mine is bad also. The top entries in battery stats are screen, Android OS and Android System. If apps aren't optimized for Lollipop, shouldn't they show up as using lots of battery?

I flashed 5.0 onto my Nexus 5 and not a OTA Update to get a clean OS. I hear doing OTA updates may result in your phone having some lag and maybe battery issues.

My phone and apps are fast and buttery smooth and battery has a little longer charge and use.

Used Nexus Root Tool Kit to flash my phone, easy free all in one program you download to your PC; http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/

Currently sitting at 19% with 2h 36m screen on time.
For battery usage screen is at the top with 14%, then Android System at 8%, and Android OS at 4% and Google search at 3% with the rest being at 1%.
I have adaptive brightness turning on with the slider at about 40%. Normally I think I would have that off and manually stay at 30% and below because I don't like my screen too bright. Also I've been on wifi all this time with Location on High accuracy. Android is saying I have 1 hr 9 mins left.

Wipe cache partition is just a placebo effect. Never made a difference for me anyway.

I am fairly sure my battery life is also down some with the update. I carefully compare my battery stats over long periods of idle (since I have a LOT of that at work.... sometimes all day without the screen being turned on even once). There are lots of variables to consider and try to control when evaluating battery life, so it is likely that nobody's postings about battery life are really very scientific (including mine)

Standby mode is about the same but if I do anything with the screen on the battery drains about 1% a minute or so.

Not sure about anyone else but I noticed my battery was terrible when I first flashed Lollipop but its been about a week now and I noticed yesterday that my battery life has improved tremendously. I have had a lot of app updates and also noticed that Google play services is not hogging my battery like it used to in the first few days.

Hopefully this will be the case for everyone.

so chrome has been strangely the biggest user of my battery since lollipop - for now i force stop whenever i'm done using it, and the battery life is back to decent levels

I had some issues as well with battery life after the OTA but I did a factory reset and that seems to have solved the problem.

An issue I noticed was that Google Play Services was using a large amount of CPU time, and Lollipop's battery history screen showed that google play services was keeping the GPS on 100% of the time.

Finally found out that it was the Weather Channel app... Once I told that app to not track my location, google play services stopped keeping the GPS on full time and my battery usage is much better now.

Weather Channel app was set to track my location prior to Lollipop, too, but I didn't have a problem with it keeping GPS on back then. Problem arose with upgrade to Lollipop.

I'm seeing horrible battery life with the released version of Lollipop. It wasn't very good with the developer and pre-release versions but it's worse now. I was just at a conference and I had to carry a couple of external batteries, one with Qi and a giant one that's USB only.
