I still use G+, but I did disable background data yesterday. I haven't seen a change either way in battery life. I really think I'll have to evaluate battery life in a couple of weeks or so. I simply just use the device all day long, and cannot accurately judge battery life while still so excited to play with it constantly.

Does anyone know why the OS is using up so much battery life?? It stays awake even when my phone isn't in use. I took a 4 hour nap and my battery went down roughly 6-10%. This can't be right if I wasn't even using the phone.
I disabled G+ to test it out. I now realize that i want to use G+, how do I turn it back on? Thanks in advance for any help.
the same way you disabled it...
NordicNinja;1501839[B said:]I disabled the background data on G+ and Facebook[/B] and I have noticed my OS Keep Awake time drop SIGNIFICANTLY. It is hard to tell if this is having a dramatic affect on the battery or not, but thus far I would say that I am getting better battery life. So far today I'm at about 5.5 hours on battery, 83% battery remaining, and the Android OS Keep Awake is at about 1.5, which is where it was at when I switched the G+/FB background data off. Previously my keep awake has been above 50% of my total uptime...
All of that being said, my Android OS battery usage is still very high (38%). Previously it had been running around 20%... That may just simply be because I haven't had my phone on as much today and as soon as the screen sucks up some juice the OS percentage will drop.
Interesting to note however that with the G+/FB background data off, my wifi appears to not be turning off when I turn off my screen (a highly recommended battery saving feature). Possibly because with the G+/FB background data toggle turned off, those background process will default to using the wifi and are therefore not letting the wifi go to sleep when the screen is off. Just a guess.
Well that makes sense except now G+ doesn't show up in my apps.
I don't believe G+ is the issue. If that was the case every phone would be doing it I would imagine. You guys that think G+ may be causing it and have crappy battery life do you actually have a full working G+ account with people etc on it or just a blank setup?
The reason why I don't think it's that is because my phone and G+ have been running for 13h 14m 18s as of right now. I haven't actually used G+ and it has 1m 38s of cpu time.

How are you disabling background data on Facebook?
Disabling is maybe not the correct term, I/we should be saying "restrict background data." And this is done by going into settings, data usage, scroll down and click on Facebook and then check the restrict background data box. As previously mentioned you have to put a data limit on before you can restrict background data for specific apps.
This is precisely the "battery bug". The OS is keeping the phone awake. Nobody is sure why.
