Battery life, is it really that bad?

Got nothing like that in my settings. It probably doesn't matter I get terrible cell service where I live, typically 1 or 2 bars.

Weak cell signal like that will kill a battery super fast under the right conditions, even in standby. On one of my phones that normally lasted all day no problem with battery to spare, I was in an area with almost no cell signal at all, and within 2 hours my phone heated up in my pocket and died completely. I would not be at all surprised if the flip searching for 5g all day and heating up is killing the batteries. That's actually a common problem with all the new 5g phones to some degree.... everyone's trying to find ways to turn off 5g until it becomes more wide spread.

Unlocked just pick 4g network, however carriers took the option away on carrier branded phones

I've had my flip 3 for three days now and I've been pushing it to it's limits. Texting, messaging, duo calls, social media, reading the news and watching videos. I have power saving mode on and that's it. In developer options I have mobile network always on and in location settings I have do not use wifi or Bluetooth. I have been getting approx 5.5hrs of on screen time a day having it go down to 15% battery left. The battery stats still say learning my usage.

I'd say this is pretty good for a smaller battery in this phone.

This is why I tell people I can't recommend it, you're sacrificing too much just to Flip3 your phone.

I don't mind it because I'm carrying two other phones.

Not everyone is a power user. I can certainly recommend this phone to anyone who isn't using the phone constantly either for work or play. The flip and the compactness is a major plus for a lot of users.

200% right here. If someone is wanting to 'step away' from being tied to their phones like we've become, then this is a great solution. But if you game, youtubea lot, P**nhub a lot, lol, or any major streaming situation or you expect to write an essay using this phone, then you need to upgrade to the Fold 3 for real estate and battery.

Years ago, old gen batteries would eventually bulge from too much charging. Today's batteries shut down charging once fully charged.

So far I am very happy with my battery life! Of course I've only had it two days. But I am easily going all day. Yesterday I was only down to 50% by bedtime and today I still have 74%. I guess I am a light to moderate user. If my battery life improves after a few more days as I read on here that it will, then it will be even better! No complaints about battery life from me.

Gotta let them phones settle in and learn your usage patterns so hopefully better results for the recent owners experience

This always sounded so weird to me, a battery that needs to be "broke in" sort of or something like that. But ya know what? I think I believe that now. First day was pretty lousy but I could deal with it because I can set it on a charger on my desk at work, not that big a deal for me since I'm not a power user.

Today I can't believe how much of a change over just a few days. Charge is lasting noticeably longer :) still not like my LG V60 which had amazing battery life but still nice to see an improvement.

That's good to see and hopefully improve a little more I expect the same LG that phone was a champ but the battery

Battery life isn't this phone's strong suit, and we knew that going in. 3,300 is 3,300 on Android. Anyone who thought they were going to buy a 3rd generation foldable with a 3,300 sized battery and were going to get stellar battery was asleep.

The rest of us knew it would be a fun, novel device that we'd likely have to top off by 6pm. It's a trade off of early adoption that you can either make or not make.

Having said that, I'm finding it's getting better the more I use the device. It's the slow charging I'm having more of an issue with, especially compared to my S21 Ultra 45w.

Samsung will likely include some fixes to improve battery life especially standby drain in an update.

You should say most likely not, because reality is they probably won't... this phone is what it is.... if you want to extend your battery life pretty much have to crippled it and there's already tips on how to Cripple this device.

You mean Cripple it Mafia Style.... like knee-capping it? Does that phone owe you some money? :p

So, AT&T gave me $350 for an old iPhone 8 and I put $150 towards a 128GB Flip³. I charged it up to 80% and will see if I can try to keep from charging it over that. At 5:30P it was at 80%. Now at 8:30P it's at 73%. Of course I'm setting it up and playing with it and stuff but it may not be a bad extra device with a small form factor. A Fold³ it's not, but for me, at $500 its half the price. I'd read here about the Flip and look forward to see if it can fit in.

Is anyone else trying to limit their battery charge to 80%?

I put every phone I own in power save mode, despite battery size. It's always a concern of mine of having a phone die on me

Most days I've ended the day with plenty of battery left on all my phones... but I've also had some emergency days where I needed every bit, and there's no way I could have made it with just an 80% charge. So for peace of mind, I always start the day with a full phone. I have a landline, so I charge my phone up before bed, then unplug it and turn it off for the night. So far I've never had a battery fail ;)

And I'll be using the same strategy for my Z Flip 3 :p

I no longer use the 80% charge. I use the built in 85% max and when I am usually down to around 30% or so I just plug in or wireless charge to the 85%. I no longer keep an eye on it just to stop it at 80%. My security camera app, some social media, a few e mails and some phone calls is all I get these days and my battery last me ok. I guess one could say Retirement does have some advantages!

Well it has a small battery compared to other phones. It isn't meant for power users IMO. I'm a light user and it gets me through a day without a problem.
