So I got the charge 3 days ago and its was amazing... Coming from an incredible the screen is amazing and when I'm on 4g its awesome....

Anyway I hated the stock interface so I spent the money on the spb shell. It looks great and is the epitome of everything I want lol... But my battery life sucks. Does anyone else using the shell thing have that problem? Or do I just need to play around with the settings more ?

As a side note the little things I like:
*The alarm is amazing! The thing it does where it plays nature sounds five mins before the real alarm goes off is awesome. And I never sleep through it
*picture quality is amazing as is the camera interface
*the hard buttons on bottom
*not having to find and install swype
*4g
________
Dislikes:
*stock browser is kind of buggy
*is there a bookmarks widget?

Does shell show up in the battery usage?

I've used it on other phones without it impacting battery life.

For a web browser I recommend Opera Mobile. It's buttery smooth!

did you remove the widgets off the touchwiz launcher , otherwise they are still running despite using a replace launcher which will obviously kill battery more quickly.go back to stock launcher remove all widgets and then run the spb launcher

My battery has been running very strong with some pretty heavy use? Today I'm running it on 4G without GPS/Blutooth on and it's doing even better. I'd play with the settings and make sure the task manager isn't running a bunch of apps. Yesterday I got a solid 20 hours of usage out of it and I see no real reason to opt for the extended battery at this time.

For the browser: I'm running Dolphin right now and it's extremely smooth and running multi-tabs with no problems.

Anyone have any tips for battery life? It's my first time owning a droid phone. I have only 43% of battery left since having 100% at 6:30am est.

The only thing I see using the most battery is the display. I have it set to auto. Any ideas?

So in the task manager under the ram tab.... Mine says 268mb/328mb
The only program listed as running is tapatalk...

is this normal I thought it had 512?

Really not sure how you are getting this amount of battery life! When on 4G network I am draining about 20% of battery per hour! No widgets, and have screen brightness set to minimum.

I did a factory reset last night and have removed all running apps, turned off LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, and Wifi. Today I am doing slightly better but still testing. 3.5 hours off the charger and I am down to 80% battery left as of now.

Do you have Facebook or multiple Gmail account sync enabled?
I have 3 gmail accounts set up to sync, and I have not enabled facebook at all yet on the phone after reset.

3.5 hours with 20 percent is really good. At that rate the phone gives you 17.5 hours of life which greatly exceeds all reviews I've seen. Most say 6 hours with normal use compared to 4 hours with the thunderbolt.

1 Gmail, 1 AOL, and 1 Exchange. All pushing. The only widget I have open is a date/weather on the home screen. Besides that it's just shortcuts and apps.

You guys are going to hate me, but since I rooted and froze the bloat I have been getting better battery life :-[

True, but currently I have GPS, bluetooth, Wifi off and screen so dark I can hardly read it in sunlight.

Still monitoring for another couple of hours and then turning more features on to see how it is impacted.

Perhaps NoLED and Advanced Task killer were my problems? Time will tell with more testing, but not getting my hopes up yet

lol. soon enough, our solutions to great battery life are going to be:

- screen brightness set to minimum
- zero widgets on any screen
- zero pushing of any applications (i.e. gmail, facebook, weather, etc)
- zero game playing
- zero movie watching or youtube streaming
- zero web browsing
- only 5 phone calls (maxed at 2 minutes per) and 20 texts sent maximum

THEN! then will we get the battery life that will make us all happy. oh but then we ended up forgetting why we have a smartphone to begin with: to do all the things that actually kill the battery life.

ok, sorry for the sarcasm, lol.

but after a whole 10 hour work day, and after moderate usage, i usually have around 60% battery life from 5:30pm till bed time.

Turn off mobile data when you're not using it, doing that alone has increased my battery life over 300% - I had 11 hours of fairly heavy usage yesterday with 20% battery to spare.

Oh, and I also had the screen set to auto brightness yesterday, but today i decided to try my luck with 35% brightness. Seems to be working just as well so far - 78% after 3.5 hours.

but any time i wanna check something online, a website, the score of a game, etc, i have to turn data back on every time i wanna do that, and then I have to turn it back off after i'm done. that'd be a huge hassle and impractical for every day use.

True, but it takes about 5 seconds for internet to reactivate and TW at least makes it easy with the notification bar. Inconvenient for sure, but IMO less inconvenient than my phone being dead.

Is everyone else who's getting a whole day of battery life turning their data transfer off when not in use? If they're not, I have no idea how they're doing it.

I always keep my data on except for the rare occasions I'm on a road trip and driving through the country or something where it will be constantly switching in and out of networks.

I'm curious if some of the battery leakage problems are from switching between 1/3/4G? I'm constantly in a 4G area with 3-4 bars and it never switches in and out. Today I've been unplugged for 3hrs and 90% left with pretty standard morning work usage.

For those experiencing poor battery performance, do you notice a bad signal or switching into 3G often?

IF you turn off 3G...... it just turns off internet right???? like you can still receive text/phone calls? what about apps like KiK messanger?

No. i switch between networks with no issue, and the battery still drained like crazy for me.
So far my factory reset it doing REALLY WELL! Just turned on GPS, Bluetooth, and Wifi to test further. Almost 6 hours and still 70% battry life left! :)

I've considered this. I've worked all week and the data reception here is quite poor. Since most of my time is spent with this lousy reception, it is possible that a lot of my battery issues are coming from the switching of networks. This weekend I will try to leave data on and see how that plays out. If not, I may try to switch out my battery.

Slightly off topic, but if I try to switch out my battery at the place I got my phone will they give me a new one free of charge? I bought it at a licensed verizon store (they sold exclusively VZW phones and was decorated like a VZW store, so I'm assuming the policies are the same).
