Battery life really THAT bad?

Anyone trying with the "always on" turned off, are you having trouble with the watch not coming on for notifications? I get a vibration but the screen doesn't come on 90% of the time.

is it supposed to come on? i was under the impression it just vibrated to let you know there was a notification

Mine last all day with brightness at 5 (max). I am not constantly using it (but I get a fair amount of notifications)

Pretty sure it's not designed to come on in this mode. When I turn the watch after the notification it does come on.

As of 1:13pm today my watch just gave me the 20% low battery indicator. So I've been on a single charge since about 5:30pm on 07/08.

I put it on my wrist around 7 am. It was connected to my Nexus all day except for a run I did. I received the 20% warning around 7:30 pm. If that doesn't improve it is going to be hard to justify.

I had a similar experience for the first couple of days. Then I changed the brightness setting down to 2 and blacklisted notifications from a couple of apps and have noticed a nice improvement. Last night I was still at 48% after 15 hours of use.

So my first day full day of use I was able to get to the end of the day with about 40% and I get a lot of sports center notifications plus gmail. I also had the screen always on with brightness at 2. I took at off the charger last night at 1115p since I worked overnight and around 430a I checked and the battery was down to 40% by 515a it was down to mid 20s. I hardly got any notifications. The only thing I had going was the FM tuner on my M8. I don't not understand how the battery could be used up so fast. I'm going to just return it. I can deal with daily charging but not when I'm at work and my watch is going to die on me

Just checked mine for the day from 8 am and I am at 43% with full brightness and always on off. That is sufficient for me, but with always on off the face doesn't turn on consistently enough. More than half the time I have to shake my wrist to get it back on. I will continue to tweak my usage to see if I can find the right balance.

Got almost two full days with moderate notifications (around 35 per day) and screen set to always off. I have no need to always see the time anyway. When I turn my wrist - I see the time or I tap the screen. If I can charge it nightly, then I would likely leave the Always On setting to on. Have 19% left after 44 hours.

For comparisons sake to my earlier posts, today I tried it with always on set to on with brightness at 4. I took it off the charger at 955am with 100% battery. It is 9 45 pm and I'm at 53% battery remaining.

Plugging up the charger now with 5% left and it's 1248pm. So I got about 27 hours with "always on" on and brightness at 4 with no restrictions as to what notifications came through.

Battery life may drive me back to the Pebble for now. Don't get me wrong, you can turn always on off and keep brightness lower and easily make it through the day with plenty of usage. However, I want to be able to have the screen on in the dimmed mode and make it through the day. Not sure what my final verdict is just yet.

The first few days that I had mine I could get through a complete day before I needed to charge it again. Charging it at night was good enough. Since I originally purchased it the battery life seems to have diminished greatly. After a couple of days of noticing my watch was unexpectedly dead I decided to do a battery testl I keep the screen turned off and have notifications muted checked the batter level once per hour. The watch seems to be consistently loosing about 14% per hour. That's pretty awful. I don't know whether or not this rate of battery loss is usual, but it's the rate I am experiencing.

By contrast I also have the original Galaxy Gear running Tizen. I can get away with charging it every other day.

Have never had my watch die on me. I usually drop just under 50% by the end of the day but charge every night anyway

I can get through a full day 7-11 with about 50% left. Always on and brightness at 3. I'd say use is moderate. Either turn it off at night and wait until the next day to charge it just charge at night.

Don't think battery will get to Pebble levels with Wear for some time. Still really like it though. I only wish there were more things to use it for like QR code linked to Wallet for mobile payments.

After reading the Moto 360 reviews I would say the Gear Live has excellent battery life!

I'm still very tempted to pick one of these up, but the battery life still scares me and seems to not have improved with firmware updates or anything. $200 is a lot of money to risk on something that I may just throw out and purchase a newer, better one later on down the road. Ugh... decisions.

My Gear Live battery life is terrible. I am not even a heavy texter or email user, but I am at 10-15% by 6PM every day. Blanks out by 8, 8:30 PM at the latest. I do leave it to not totally dim, which I suppose I can turn off, but really, nah... I just think the battery life is going to be the Achilles's Heel of these things. God forbid some really great apps come along that have us interacting with these things more frequently.

Full day use for last 2 weeks, rarely drops below 50%. I use a dark clock face, which has been recommended as best battery saver.
