I have the non-XL and battery life is really good. I'm getting about 6.5-7 hours SOT over the course of a full day. For a 2700mah battery, that's really good.

I'm scratching my head think how do you find time to spend that long in a day on the phone.

I'm loving the battery life so far. First day with downloading, copying data with my S7 edge, screen on time off charger is over 5 hours.

My real world tests are GPS and streaming Pandora in car while unplugged. (Normally I do plug it in) I did a 90 minute round trip and used 13% . Coming from an N6 that's very good.

I can get 4 hours screen time with mine.

Yep my 6P got pretty horrible battery life the past 6 months, even after a factory reset. I pretty much had to plug it in wherever I went.

2 XL here... The battery life is incredible. I pulled it off the charger 6 hours ago. Since then I used my phone to navigate to work (25 minute commute), streamed music the whole way here, I've watched YouTube, used Instagram, I screenshared with support while I was troubleshooting an issue, plus other random stuff. I've currently had the screen on for 2 hrs and 20min and have my brightness maxed out with "Adaptive Brightness" turned on. I'm sitting at 61% battery life. I would be at 50% or lower without a doubt on my OG XL.

Mine has not been good compared to the other phones I have been using. The XL has been good for about 20 hours, where the other phones will get in the mid 30s. I would expect it to get better. I do miss being able to charge wirelessly in my car.

What's your sot. That's really what matters.

Yep, 3 straight days with 6+ hours of SOT with Pixel 2. This includes GPS, YouTube and camera. Not babying the battery at all. Going out of my way to use the phone. Im amazed how efficient this phone is. If I go easy, I can probably get 8+ hours SOT.

Anyways, I can't wait to test my phone battery life when I get it next week. I'll try to to put it on low settings to see how much juice I can get. Will be interested to see if anyone else is willing to do this for either models.

The proven methods for increasing battery life are:
-changing to a blackwall paper
-changing the animated wallpaper to a static one
-airplane mode, turning off blue tooth, etc.
-battery saver mode(of course)

Looking at a lot of battery review articles, both versions are really good, and it seems that the Pixel 2XL has 1 more hour of battery life overall when it comes to continuous web browsing. That's really good. Despite the washed out look and blue tint which shouldn't be a big deal to most people, that would definitely make the Pixel 2XL worth it, along with the 6 inch screen and 4x resolution.

Man I ordered a Pixel 2 and a Pixel 2XL though, with the Pixel 2 at 128GB for the price of Pixel 2 64GB on ebay and the 2XL from google store. Truth be told, I was thinking about cancelling my Pixel 2XL order, but now I'm gonna give one to my mom. She's not gonna use anywhere 128GB of storage though, but that extra battery life on the 2XL though.. shoot. Makes my nearly 4 year old Nokia Lumia 1020 on 2 hours of web browsing from 100% to 0 a joke. lol I guess I'll have to see how both are. My 2XL will be coming next week, and the 2 should be coming 9 days from now.

That's awesome. What do you think at that rate the SOT would be for a full charge 100 - 0? This is the regular pixel 2, not xl? Thanks.

If op used 65% of the battery and got 5 hours SOT than a 100% change is 5/.65 = 7.7 hours, then we use 80% of that because it's not healthy (for the phone) to let the phone die. 6.2 hours SOT expected with OPs usage habits, starting at 100% and putting back on the charger at about 20%.
