Battery Life Thread

Here's one of mine from yesterday

Went with a 48% one because it's close to 50% for easy math. I was at 3 hours SOT and so 3 × 2 × .8 = 5 hours on a charge plugging it back in at 20% or 6 hours from 100% to 0%.

That seems low until you look at the other number, because that was over an 18 hour period. Same thing, 18.5 × 2 × .8 = 29.6 hours, meaning that without going down below 20% the phone can give me 5 hours of SOT over the course of 30 hours. Or if I hate my battery, 6 hours screen on over the course of 37 hours.

YMMV

I am unwilling to turn off features in order to get tiny improvement in battery life. It's either good or it isn't and if it isn't, the phone sucks and I return it. Almost all major flagships since the second half of 2013 have been capable of providing the average user with a full day of normal usage. Any phone that cannot do that is just sad and shouldn't, IMO, be purchased by anyone.

Here's mine from yesterday. I only charged it up to 95%, and I left it off the charger overnight. I could never do this with my 6P.

Me, too. I understand why journalists or tech reviewers turn their brightness down a bit to get increased battery, but if I'm buying a phone, especially a pixel, I want all the features as advertised. if the battery can't handle it, that's a phone problem, not a me problem.

In my case I don't turn features off. The fact that my phone doesn't last all day is a me problem because I use it above average.

Yeah, you don't need to turn off features. I don't turn anything off and it still go over 5 hours screen on time. One thing I noticed, i actually went to sleep last night with 100% battery and unplugged, woke up in the middle of the night to get some water, and noticed the phone was still at 100%. That's some serious doze mode going on. The pixel one never did that.

So far I have about 3 hr screen on time with about 70% battery time. It's been 7 hours 20 minutes off the charger. I'm really testing it today and will update you guys tonight. Not going to plug it in until probably 5% battery left.

What screen brightness do you use?

Yep, 3 straight days with 6+ hours of SOT with Pixel 2. This includes GPS, YouTube and camera. Not babying the battery at all. Going out of my way to use the phone. Im amazed how efficient this phone is. If I go easy, I can probably get 8+ hours SOT.

That looks good! Did you keep location services on the whole time?

I haven't really had a normal day with it. but one thing I can point out. The camera is a battery drainer! Got like 3-4 hrs sot taking pics all night.

Yesterday I had over 5 hours SOT and still had 40% in the tank when I went to bed. So far the battery life on the 2XL has been fantastic.

It's really good. Got the phone yesterday work 80% battery. I got over 5 hours screen on time with 15% battery. That's with installing over 160 apps, surfing online, about 30 some minutes of VR with the daydream. Today I got over 5 hours screen on time again and over 39% battery left when I left work. Started to charge the phone on the way home.

Edit forgot to mention, I have an XL

Wow! Spectacular stats!

The battery lasts...I plugged it in out of habit, not out of necessity... Screenshot_20171022-170825.jpg

Down to 1% on my 2 XL. 8 hours 20 minutes SOT! Over 19 hours off the charger. A mix of wifi and mobile data. Mostly surfing online. Brightness is about 40%. Didn't use battery saver when under 15%. Bluetooth was on all day and connected to my Garmin watch for notifications. Haha, no I don't look at my phone this long everyday.
