Battery Life Thread

I have a better battery life with Oreo 8.0, now with 8.1 update, I have to recharge it half way of the day. It didn't happened with 8.0.and my Pixel XL always lasted over a day. I did not change my habits at all. Definitely it will improve with future software updates.

Did the bad battery life start right after you updated to 8.1?

At Disney. GPS on the whole time. Great life.

At Disney's Star Wars Galactic Nights.. GPS on for 5 hours (the entire time). Not bad!

Data, GPS(high accuracy) and Bluetooth are always on. Weekends I'm getting 7 hours minimum. At work when my phone spends time in a steel locker and without a signal a bit less but it's hard to tell as I don't get below 50% in the day.
Only thing I've done is turn off background usage for some apps and uninstalled Facebook. I use friendly instead.

Battery life is still impressive after the update. I've never had a phone in which I can feel confident I can get through the day like this one. I don't know what type of magic Google is using but keep it up!

How do you people look at a tiny phone screen for 7+ hours a day?

For me? I keep shows / live streams going while at work. I can watch and do what I need to do.. but I'm not watching all the time.

I guess it is an age thing. My 14 year old daughter lays in bed on her 4.5 inch iPhone for hour on end and only threats snap her back into real life and off the phone. I hear from other parents that laying in bed in the middle of the day staring at smart phones is a thing for teenage girls now-a-days.

In the evening we'll be watching a movie as a family on our very large home theater and she'll disappear, I check and she is in bed on her iphone. :-

Ah well I'm not a teenager or a girl :P.

BT, NFC, GPS always on. Ambient display on. Tasker turning wifi on and off by location. Two weather apps updating hourly. Also have an app called Gravity screen which monitors your proximity sensor and accelerometer to turn the screen on and off as needed, and to keep it on.

MINE did
8.1 Oreo has lowered my battery life over the same type of work day usage, somewhat strongly, i used to never worry about charging my phone during the day, today i barely made it home which never happened with 8.0, prior to 8.1 this phone went 2 days multiple times between charges... I dont do social media or GPS either so im confused whats going on

gservicesfix did the trick for me. I have my battery back to excellent length on 8.1...not sure what it did but I don't care lol

Same here! I ran it this morning and now I'm at 90% whereas after 8.1, I'd normally be around 80% this time of day.

I do believe gservicefix is also doing some magic for my pixel's battery as well. I didn't notice much for about 3 days then an improvement started to become evident. FWIW, I ran it 3 times as recommended as a possible need by the dev. 3rd time seems to have done it.

I'm out of the loop and scared to read through 16 pages. Can someone give me the info on the gservicefix?

I've had my Pixel 2 XL 128 since release. My battery life is superb, the best I've ever experienced with a cell phone. I easily get a full day with battery to spare. Nothing has changed with the 8.1 update.
