5-6 hrs is nothing for those who commute far daily. Say around 3-4 hours to work and back while streaming YouTube.

Time to look for a new job with better work-life balance?

I like the phone a lot but it charges significantly slower than the original pixel XL and the battery life hasn't been as good ...for me....also ...the battery never shows 100 percent charged....sits at 99 percent for hours

End of my first weekend day, and the XL battery life still impresses me.
Over 4 hours SOT and 42% left. Includes a few percent used by a radio app too.

This phone is crazy good with battery. I usually charge around 20-25% I'm just not near a charger right now.

I didn't think that battery life was bad. I do not use it's auto functions. I have an app or two that are designed like crap and I let Greenify kill them.

Because of you I experimented with greenify for two days in the same conditions that I usually am in. It killed my battery quick. It didn't show up in the list of apps but I know it was it because as soon as I uninstalled it at 40 percent, it lasted pretty long after that. Today I'll see it if regulates without it.

My battery life is shocking in comparison to others. I have charged it twice today already. Took it off a couple of hours ago and it is at 60%. OK i do use it a lot for reading forums and stuff. I have taken some photos and read some twitter. But GSam says I used 40% in 3 hours 7 mins. And of that screen on is an hour and 37 mins. I use dark themes and dark keyboard. Brightness is 52%. To be honest I adore my phone except for the poor battery life. Yesterday I got it to last 16 hours with 4 and a half hours SOT.

Please can anyone tell me the best way to make my battery last. Bluetooth and NFC are off. I am using wifi. I am letting it drain to 7% before charging it to full. I am so disappointed that it is not lasting like other people have had. No screen issues for me. But battery life is just not good enough. I have the 2 XL.

I am using Action Launcher rather than the pixel launcher. But that couldn't be affecting it that badly could it?

Not sure if might be something like this...but I was having bad battery drain on my pixel 2 and it turned out was Facebook app running in background. Phone never went into sleep. I was tempted to switch to 2xl cause battery was do bad. Once I shut off background data on the app have seen HUGE improvement. Currently have about 4:15 sot with 37% left and phone was last charged around 10hrs ago.

I don't use facebook app as I read it drained battery. I use fella instead. But my phone never sleeps either. I need to enable more stats in GSam to see the offending apps. It says that apps are using 36% of battery. Need to connect it to adb. I will shut off background data although I have data saver enabled already. Worth a thought though.
Update: pulse has been active in the background for the whole time phone has been off charge. It has used the most battery at 11%. I wonder if uninstalling that and using normal messenger would make a difference. I like pulse sms though.

Yah sounds like similar issue just different app. Once I limited background activity on the facebook app from the battery settings problem was solved.

yah that looks exactly what I had with the crappy Facebook app. I wasn't using it but it was running non-stop in background. Not sure if you can disable or limit background on the app or not....that solved it for me.
