Battery life

Yesterday was the second day of "learning your usage". I was quite pleased after resetting. I was only losing a out 1.4% charge per hour, then I went to bed with 81% charge left after about 14 hrs usage. Woke up after about 3.5 hours and it had suddenly dropped to only 40% left. Then proceeded to drop 3% every 10 minutes for no apparent reason. No changes from the previous 56 hours when I last set it up. Battery usage showed no app over 3.8% with the biggest being Display. What could have triggered the battery to go crazy all of a sudden? Misbehaved background app? I'm baffled. I have the W5 Pro LTE with on Bluetooth. Wifi and LTE turned off.

I too have been thoroughly impressed with the Watch 5 Pro battery life. Since receiving the watch, I've only charged it twice - lasting about 3+ days before I would recharge it around the teens in percentage. I am sure once I start using more of the features more frequently, it will require more frequent charging, but I really use it for workout tracking, etc. and so far it's great!

I took my watch 5 off the charger at 4:30 am and by 11:30pm it was down to 59%. That was with a full day at work, AOD off, auto brightness on, wifi and bt on. I would say my usage was about normal. I suspect it will be more battery consumption on days where I go for a walk in the afternoon and track the walk. I also don't listen to music on my watch or take calls on it. I'm very happy with this battery usage. I may turn the brightness up all the way and/or turn on AOD just to see if I can make it through a full day. I don't sleep with my watch on so I don't mind charging it every night.

FINALLY! My QW5Pro LTE lasted 2 days and 5 hours before it got down to 4% and I put it on the charger. Yayy!!

Can someone help me. I'm only getting 24 hours on a full charge. Not sure what I'm doing wrong with my settings. Coming from the 3 with the same 24 hour battery life

All of a sudden and for no apparent reason, my battery usage sucks. I was getting close to three days and now, I barely get 1.5 days. I have not changed anything. Seems like Health Services and Health Platform have been updated and are using more battery. I'm still on UI 5.0 beta. With the third beta, all that I had before. I don't get it.

I have noticed mine takes a bit more of a hit to the battery when I'm doing only about an hour of workout mode each day. Otherwise, I am using a watch face that is fairly conservative on power consumption even with AOD.

I am using a very simple watch face with only steps, battery%, date, and sunrise/sunset. I may try removing the sunrise/sunset to see if that makes a difference.

Samsung health does seem to have had a bump in battery use, but not enough to really affect overall battery life. You could always try force stopping them or uninstalling the updates... Ithink that's the limit of troubleshooting on the watch ...

Honestly, my opinion is always if you're on the beta, that's the end of that. report it and put up with it.

.....I allowed the watch to copy my settings from my watch 3....

Ok, I'm coming from the GW3 today. I had the thought about restoring a backup from the GW3 to the GW5P, but then realized I'm going from Tizen to WearOS, so I threw that thought out the window.

I'm guessing allowing the GW3 settings to transfer over to the GW5P is different than trying to load a backup?

For those not tracking your sleep, you should reconsider tracking it. Good quality sleep is vital to your health. Especially now that SH tracks your snoring. Sleep apnea is a huge factor in your health. Since becoming a Deputy Coroner and investigating deaths, it has opened my eyes to the various, common, medical issues (sleep apnea, high BP, etc) that affects people's health and are factors in deaths.

Coming from the Gear S3 and now GW3, I have always tracked my sleep. The evenings when I'm sitting down after work to watch some TV are my typical charge times. With the GW3, I can typically charge every other night. Not when I'm in the shower, cause I wear my watch in the shower (it needs a cleaning after working out and wearing it all day). With the reported battery usage times, it sounds like there is no reason to "not" track your sleep now.

W5P here. Has anyone noticed unusual battery drain with Google Assistant? On average Assistant is responsible for +20% of my battery usage. There seems to be no way to disable the Hello Google keyword activation.

I've had no issues with this. Don't have any unusual settings that I know of.

Uninstall/reinstall GA on the watch. During reinstallation you be prompted (on your phone) to activate/deactivate Hello Google functionality.

Makes me wonder why these settings are only available during setup. I must not have opted for it.

You can turn off "hey Google" by going into your watch settings -> Google -> Assistant -> toggle "Hey Google" off.
