I have been considering getting the Google Galaxy Nexus and have wonder what the battery life is like? I am light user but at times I can be listening to pandora or play music for 4 to 8hrs. Also I read few articles and occasional comics through out the day on my TB. My TB last me till 7am to 1pm-4pm my days I listen to music heavily on my light days can last me 12 to 20hrs( Use my N7 tablet mostly now)

battery life is descent in galaxy nexus.. if you follow some battery saving tips and if you use very light you should last for 2-3 days.

I have a Nexus S which is more than a year old and i get about 2-3 days.

From what I have seen, most things drain the batter negligibly compared to having the screen on, so you can expect that it'll last until the screen has been on for about 3 hours. Streaming music takes very little toll on the battery :)

Ya i usually get about 3 hours screen on time. Whether it takes me 6 hours of the phone being on to get that or 12 hours

Thanks everyone good to know. I am getting mix reviews from phonedog.com saying battery life was bad then theverge.com saying the battery life was good. Will the battery life be better than my Thunderbolt?

it also depends on the kernel you're using since that software control the characteristics of the CPU and GPU.

I couldn't say for certain if it would be better than your thunderbolt. Are you getting the Verizon version of the GNex? Because if you have LTE, that can make a big difference as well.

Only the GSM verisiom and planning to use the GN on AT&T. I have unlimited plan on Verizon but only use 3G and rarely use LTE.

Then you should be fine. You can check your current screen on time in battery in settings, by clicking on the screen usage. That way you'll know how well the GNex will do :)

I am more confident with what I heard about GN battery life from here.

When I first got my Gnex (GSM version) I was appalled at the "horrible battery life". Then again, I was coming from a dumbphone on a CDMA network, and when I first got it I hardly put it down....

Anyways, I found the stock battery was almost enough, but an extended battery (2000mAh) easily covers me for a day. I go off charger at 6am, and back on charger at around 10pm. I'm generally around 50% (give or take 10%). My use varies day to day, with more use on weekends then on week days.

I plan on not getting extended battery because I like how slim the phone is already and would not want and slightest extra bulk to my phone.

That's understandable. Although the extended battery and its cover don't add a whole lot of bulk. The cover doesn't taper in like the stock one but rather continues straight till roughly where the Google logo is, where it tapers to the top of the phone. If you want I can take some pics of stock vs. extended.

Well I stream XMSirius most of the day but with the screen off and typically I have 30% power left. Here is what a typical day looks like on the extended battery with no streaming, I took this just before I went to bed and docked my phone for the night to charge. I'm a heavy phone user also. Also the Samsung 2000mAh OEM extended battery is awesome, you won't even notice it as others stated. It's so slim it works on all of the stock docks, car chargers, etc.
