battery life

I found a great way to increase battery life. Get the Juice Defender app. The free version doesn't do too much, but it almost doubled my battery life. It turns off your radios when the screen is off, except for every 20 min (you set) so that apps can update. It also turns off the 2g/3g if you turn on the WiFi.

I now run my phone HEAVY (widgets, live walpapers, etc.) and it still lasts me a day and about a 1/4. Not super long, but with the amount I have running on it shouldn't be lasting 6 hours.

I got it because the first full charge I had I burned through in about 6 hours. I use my phone alot lol.

Cheers

nice............thanks!

Actually the stock ROM should turn off 2g/3g/hspa+ radios when you're on wifi anyway.

One thing about Juice Defender -- if you want instant push notifications, for things like Google Talk, it will defer your push notifications until the radio powers on again. Definitely a trade-off that might be worthy, but you should be aware of it.

Its a good app, but if you're turning your phone off/on a lot to respond to emails or text messages, it may actually hurt battery life + be more annoying than anything. When your phone is disconnecting and reconnecting to 3G over and over again every couple minutes, its a big drain on battery. Not to mention the fact that if you need Gtalk or Gmail to be pushing chats or e-mail, this just isn't an option.

I used to use Juice Defender for a while on my G2, but I've since stopped using it. I just got tired of waiting for my data connection for 30sec when I wanted to just turn my phone on and do something. And keeping your screen on waiting for it drains battery as well.

Also, as the previous poster stated, the phone automatically turns off 2g/3g when you're on WiFi anyways.
