Battery life?

Question for those of us who have suddenly had heavy battery drain, and previously had great time on battery: Do you have any of these apps...AVG CLEANER & BATTERY SAVER or CREDIT KARMA or PANDORA or FOX NEWS or USAA ? Why do I ask, you say. I'll explain....today I pulled the phone off the charger at 11am, turned on Amazon Prime music and used my bluetooth headset for 2 hours, then checked email and some news apps, then two hours on bluetooth to my car radio. Got home, did some light email and surfing, and a few phone calls. Ìt is now 9pm and I have 73 % battery life left. Like, back to normal. Those apps listed are in the recently updated list. Could one of t hem been the issue?

My phone has been losing quite a bit of battery while it's in my pocket all day. Stats say that the screen is using the majority of the battery even though I don't look at the phone over the entire time period. I read my messages on my smart watch but am unable to actually take the phone out at work.

Is this a result of the screen being turned on in my pocket when I hit the power button? Or is it something separate that is killing so much power? I thought it was bad service but that doesn't seem to be it.

Thanks 1010.jpg

I am experiencing the sudden battery loss as many of you have posted. My phone is 4 months old. I use to beable to go about 1.5 days not it bearly lasts 12 hours. I was told about this post so i came over to see if. Below is a few screen shots from GSam App someone recommended i install. It doenst appear to be a new app i installed draining the batter but the OS.

Yea mine barely lasts the morning.

Anyone have any luck fixing it? Or know what's causing it?

I installed the widget for Adguard and my battery began taking a hit. I went from having 45 to 50% at night when plugging in to 10 to 15%. I deleted it and now my battery life is back. Not sure how that could have been so detrimental but it was. Maybe some of you may have a widget that's responsible.

I can't tell what it could be. I just sat for 1 hour with the phone locked the entire time except for 10 to read a score notification and lost 6% in that time due to screen and Android system/kernel. I realize there's a lot going on in the background but I can't see how this can chew through so much so quick. I don't imagine that reception is the problem because I'm in the middle of Manhattan with 5 bars of LTE.

Did anyone have success with wiping the phone after the update to see if that helps? Or would that not effect the issue and instead just leave me wasting time setting up the phone again

I'm not sure how many of you have the Facebook app installed, but a story on the front page suggests that it is a tremendous resource hog and battery killer. Perhaps it, combined with the 5.1.1 update causes battery life to drop.

On the other hand, I factory reset my phone and immediately updated my most used apps (Facebook being one) so I kept experiencing the degraded battery life after reset.

I'm going to uninstall it now to see if battery life improves over the next few hours.

Is this poor signal reception the cause of the poor battery? I have fixed everything else that I possibly could.

Very possibly, as the device will have to work harder to try and maintain that signal while also constantly searching for a signal when it becomes lost.

I have checked the coverage area map on Att website and I have complete undisrupted coverage in my area. I compared phone signal strength to other phones in my family and they had the same signal strength so no issue on my phone there. When I first got the phone I was able to achieve 14-16 hours and 4 to 6 hours SOT at a go on 5.0.1. Now it's just anywhere between 8 to 12 hours with around 2 or 3 hours SOT. Maybe the issue is 5.1.1?

After a factory reset I'm finding that things are improving. It hasn't been long enough to really test things out, and I've been slowly adding old apps back one at a time. I've seen an improvement on the SOT usage reading when not in use.

After reinstalling the majority of apps I had before I'm finding the battery life to be back to normal. I don't know what may have been affecting it but it's back to what I expected before. Whatever it was must have been wiped with the factory reset and hopefully stays gone. The reset was only a minor pain compared to getting the battery back. The odd thing is that before GSam was unable to read signal strengthand showed extended SOT. After the reset it's accurately reading both, unsure what would cause such an error. Hope this helps.

Inconsistent battery life
What makes less sense to me is just how different my battery is every day. This morning I was down to 40% by 10am, other days I might get there by 4pm. Whilst I suspect Facebook, it'd far from conclusive. But I do know its software related now.

So what's the verdict on this phone? Once I saw AT&T had a 64gb version, I determined this should be my next phone, especially because of the supposed battery life. I haven't purchased it yet though
