Battery Slow to Charge and Quick to Lose Power

Hi there folks,

I've had my S4 now for months, love it until the last week or so. I've noticed that recently when I charge my phone it will hardly go up (previously I could charge it for half an hour before heading out and not worry about battery life). Now when charging it acts slow, I saw a post mentioning that the phone might think it is being charged via USB, is there a way I can check if the phone does think this? If so would plugging it in a different source work or something? I've tried a couple of apps to test battery life/ heat etc and there are no suspicious apps causing the problem.

Cheers, any help would be appreciated as not being able to use my phone on long work shifts can be annoying! And if the battery life is screwed before even having the phone for a year I might wanna check out my warranty.

Cheers again!

To add to my earlier post, after looking through my phone more and chatting to a friend who also has the phone i've noticed another issue which could be important. Under battery it displays what part of the phone etc is using the battery, my friends "Screen" was at 5% of battery usage whilst mine, and I have been checking this for the last 12 hours or so to see if it goes down, is at 49%, so the battery is just being constantly used by the screen for no reason? I've turned off all the Smart Screen features, put the phone onto low power usage mode and the screen is still burning through 49% of the battery?

this % is not "% of battery". it is "% of usage". so if you did nothing but turn on the screen for a few minutes it would be a very high %.

my guess is -

1. you have a rogue app or setting. i would do a factory reset and start fresh. reinstall a few apps at a time 3/day and try to isolate the culprit. don't install non-critical apps.
2. you have a bad battery.

my money is on #1.

good luck.

A little trick I learned is this. I hold my phone, when plugged into my charger, by the bottom(charger end). I lightly tap the front top as I am holding the phone upside down. This seems to make the battery seal tight against the contacts. Therefor charging my battery fairly quick. After a period of time your battery works loose and the contacts don't make the best contact for charging. Silly as it may sound, I find this to be fact and works for me every time.
