Battery went from 80 to 0 immediately

Phone was at 80% last night last I used it. Went to check emails 15 min later and phone was dead. Plugged it in and nothing. Woke up this morning expecting to have to go to local Sprint store, but now it's taking a charge? Battery graph confirms the 80 to 0 immediate drop and the weird thing is that the graph color is orange? Any ideas? Have seen batteries drain quickly...but just drop to 0?
