Battery

Mobile Network Standby... Huge drain on my 6Pro, twenty five to forty percent higher than SOT. Disabled MNS on developer's sub forum, disabled Adaptive Connectivity, manually selecting either LTE (default) or Wifi, bypassing 5G. It appears as if the phone is continually searching for a connection, even when the speeds on LTE or Wifi are fast. Disabled MNS and looking for it to reduce battery drain. Many others seeing MNS as a problem. Google is aware of this.

Thanks for chiming in! Are you saying that you disabled Mobile Network Standby?

I've been using my 6 pro since got it today( around 3:PM EST), still going strong at 33%, started at about 70%. It just just as good as my Pixel 6, if not better. It's going to be pretty awesome for my use, as I expected.

I'm a light user so battery life is never really an issue for me but I can report that mobile network standby is my biggest battery drain, currently at 14% over the last 24 hrs, followed closely by ambient display (13%), phone idle (12%), and screen (11%). The rate of drain seems to be pretty much the same as I experienced with my 4xl or maybe slightly worse. Those 4 categories are all higher drain than any app being used. 6 Pro using AOD.

I just got my 6 3 days ago and it's still too early for me to judge battery life. I've been on it so much adding apps and removing apps from my backup on my other phone.

So what settings are y'all turning off ...I'm seeing a good battery usage here but I will do some testing for sure ..please share which settings y'all tweaking ..

MNS been slowly dropping the last five days. Was in the 30 to 35% range... Then dropped to the 20% range... Last two in the 10 to 14% range. SOT has climbed ahead of MNS in percentage battery use. Never experienced this with Sammy phones, this is first Pixel with 5G capability with VZ. As I inferred, looks like the 6 Pro is trying to connect the best means possible. This... seems to be adding to the battery drain.

I have been happy with battery life.

You have to make sure the phone is going into deep sleep mode. It was working then stopped. I had to do a factory reset and it started back up again. I assume it's something that can happen when transferring data and gremlins over from your previous phone. I've seen deep sleep mode lose very little battery percentage when the phone is in idle or standby.

I did a clean setup when I got my 6 Pro ... No transfer of apps or any data/settings. Nonetheless, thinking I'm going to try a factory reset over the extended weekend when I have some time.

So I used to have a pixel 6 that I purchased directly from Google I sent it back because I got one from T-Mobile with the trade in for the pixel 3 and it's for free this is my first battery cycle with this phone after setting everything up yesterday I am sure this is just a fluke but I'm sure looking forward to see what the battery life going to be going forward.

I did a factory reset as previously stated. Checked Accubattery to confirm Deep Sleep was activating with the stock Android apps. I did uninstall or disable stock apps I don't use. Deep Sleep was still going strong. Then downloaded all my other apps with the exception of social media apps. I'll add those later if I keep seeing positive results.

Charged phone to 100% and in 2 hours I've lost 0%. Deep Sleep doing it's job.

From 4 PM to 8 PM I've lost 1% in 4 hours of idle time.

I have Bluetooth, GPS, LTE, NFC, and Smooth Display all OFF. I'm using an eSIM as well.

I switched my P6 to battery saver and tested idle drain. In 8 hours it drained 3%. Without battery saver enabled it drains 11%. Battery saver forces phone to switch to 4g. The phone is alot quicker here at home on 4g. Battery saver is the only way I can switch the phone to 4g, as AT&T doesn't allow it in settings menu. Battery saver also won't allow some apps to run in background and apps won't refresh till they are opened.

That's extremely disappointing that AT&T forces phones on their network to "try" and run on 5G all the time, with no way to shut it off, when all 5G is for most of us is a marketing ploy... and a very inconvenient one at that  I've been with AT&T since the 90's, and have just recently been trying out Verizon... I don't have a 5G phone yet (which is sounding more and more like a good thing), but I'm going to give AT&T a call and let them know how I feel about this, and maybe they'll be losing another customer to Big Red

I find this pretty abysmal, honestly. Woke up, took phone off charger, checked a few emails and did some random website surfing and then got ready for work. Phone was in my pocket all day long ... no music playing in the background or anything. Just connected to my Galaxy Watch Active 2. Almost 20% lost with not even 10 minutes SOT in about 6.5 hours / 3% drain per hour?! This is barley better than what I was getting with my 3 years old Pixel 3.

That's way, way worse than my pixel 3XL with everything turned on, which is how I normally run my phones. Granted, I picked up my 3XL new 6 or so months ago, so it hasn't had 3 years of daily use put on it.... but I still think this is a 5G issue. I don't think the networks are ready.... I think it's a rush job/cash grab at the customers expense :(

Going to see if turning off what @Climb14er suggested in their earlier post helps out today while I'm out and about at work.
(Under developer settings I turned off "Mobile data always active", under network & internet I turned off "Adaptive connectivity" and I've turned off 5G as well)

I am averaging about 0.6% of battery loss per hour after the factory reset and my phone actually using deep sleep mode. Its probably better to start with factory settings and apps, then installing your personal apps and changing your preferred settings.
