Battery

So my first full day and happy with this for screen timeView attachment 338378

About 5 hours SOT on half a charge is phenomenal, especially if you factor in all of the extra power expended on connectivity for setting up, installing, and configuring apps!

I have to shake my head a little when I see so many varied reports. Marquez indicated only getting about three and a half hours SOT which makes me wonder what the heck he was doing!

Out of curiosity how is the standby battery discharge on the device for you Pixel 6 owners on here?

The past days I've used my 5A for very little but browsing on the web and I'm on my third day with 84% battery without recharging! But again I've hardly been using the phone and overnight (7 hours) it was just a 2% discharge while idle.

How is the 6 fairing in this department?

I tested my 3 phones at idle overnight. 8 hours.

S21U...9% drain

Pixel 5a...2%

Pixel 6...11%

Assuming you have all the same things/apps enabled on all 3 devices including wifi, Bluetooth, that 11% discharge on the 6 seems pretty high. Battery is very important to me considering I want to start keeping my devices for much longer than a year now.

I'll have to wait til my 6 arrives to test for myself. I don't expect it to be better than the 5A considering the higher specs of the 6 (which makes me wonder why they chose a lower battery capacity compared to the 5A). If it results not meeting my expectations then sadly I may just return the 6 and stick with the 5A.

Sadly? Why sadly? (Asking as a 5a owner myself.)

By sadly I mean sad to have to return the 6 if it doesn't meet my expectations but I would not mind using the 5A at all for another year. It's a stellar device all around! Let's see how the 6 fares once I receive it.

I always turn off WiFi and Bluetooth scanning, both of which are battery draining. Settings/Location/Location services.

I always turn off Bluetooth scanning as well. This was today. I toggled 5G off. Tried it in one area. I know has some Verizon 5G and the 4G came in right on par and better in this case.

Today's, although I have noticed it's for 24hrs not since full charge. Realised this morning when k took it off charge and was still showing 5hrs+ SOTScreenshot_20211031-210846.jpg

Unfortunately I have ATT and it seems there is no way to toggle 5G off. I've looked for the same settings on my Pixel 5A and it doesn't appear. Fortunately I'm mostly on WiFi so it doesn't affect my battery so much. I also disabled some settings on Developer Settings so the phone won't keep data active even while connected to Wifi so that helps too.

Does anyone think that the battery drain problems could be due to Android 12 and not just the Pixel 6? I ask since after my 4XL updated to 12, it started to drain the battery at a considerable speed as related to t when it was on 11. I did no one change as proposed by someone, that did seem to help, that is until a few days later when it started to drain at a higher rate again.
(Don't mention resets, I have done three, two with restores from backup, the last with nothing restored just every thing added one at a time.)

I only ask cause I am interested in purchasing this phone; however, the more I read, here and online at other sites, not sure it would be the phone for me due to a few issues, one being battery.

Hopefully, it is 12, since that could mean an easy fix via an update. If it is just weak batteries; that's a big problem.

I am on ATT also. On my S21ultra I downloaded the Samsung Band Selection app which allows me to switch to LTE, or whatever network or band I choose. Unfortunately that app only works with Samsung phones, and I haven't been able to locate a similar app for Google phones. I use mobile data almost exclusively and have noticed increased battery life on LTE, as well as cooler phone temperature.

I personally don't think this battery is weak by any means yesterday for a good amount of day including using Android Auto. I managed to do 6 hours plus maybe Android 12 does have a little bit to do with some of the lower numbers for some. That could definitely be a possibility

The battery on my P6 has been phenomenal. Performance has been great too. With one caveat. I live in an area where the 5G signal just isn't that great at all and we don't have a lot of towers so I turn my 5G off. Once you do that, especially if you live in an area like I do, The battery life is incredible. No issues. Can get two days out of it. 4G LTE speeds are just fine where I live. As a matter of fact, when I test the speeds, 5G isn't even that much faster than 4G again based on where I live. All of this talk about poor battery life is completely overblown because there are settings and things you can do to improve it, not the least of which is take a hard look at your speeds in terms of connectivity. If you don't need 5G, don't use it and watch your battery life soar.

I have been having battery issues with my 4 ever since the upgrade.
Saw a couple of articles today indicating it is A12 across all models. Initially it was thought to be the modem in the 6,but looks like 12 might be the culprit??

I had pretty bad idle battery drain the first few days, but it has now been over a week and the phones adaptive battery seems to have kicked in. Significant improvement, behaves much more like my Pixel 5 did. It's a 6 Pro btw.

I got my P6 on 10/18, and idle drain has been been a consistent 11% during the night, 8 hours. By comparison, my s21ultra is 9%, and my pixel 5a is 2%.
