Beautiful Widget Skins

I guess I can just stick a new transparent layer set to multiply mode and just fill a solid colour into that new layer, thus tinting the number underneath, or paste in a texture for textured numbers...

I will make a separate folder with the numbers and dots in and just mess around with them in the GIMP. There's only one way to find out, after all... :D

One thing I would like to see happen with the BW update is for the current clock designs to be kept as options with the "new" clock face as a third widget option as I do rather like the two current ones, and would hate it if they were dropped. I prefer those two over the HTC-type design myself. And more options is always good for sales...

I bet what he'll do is list the skins like the current version lists the 3 different fonts.

Probably.

It might be that one could override the theme's number fonts with the standard ones, although why one would want to when the theme maker has gone to all that trouble to make the numbers go with his theme is anyone's guess.

I still have to re-tint those numbers for the Songs theme I am working on, but I have been doing other stuff right now like updating my web site with a new blog entry and stuff...

There's never enough hours in the day, is there?

:p

Numbers Retint

It was easy to do as I described in an earlier post.

attachment.php

Just remember when saving as PNG that you DO NOT want to save the background colour in order to preserve transparencies.

Phil.

How'd you retint the numbers? Did you grab the image files that come in the example folder? Or did you use the PSD and do everything from scratch? Just wanna know before hand since I'm looking to start on them when I get home.

I grabbed the ones (all ten PNGs) from the example folder and saved them as xcf (GIMP) before creating a new layer on each. The new layer is set to multiply mode and then I pasted a colour on that new layer over the numbers. Then after saving the XCF file for backup I saved them again as PNG making sure that the "save background colour" was unchecked during saving to preserve transparencies.

With the three GUI images I also saved copies to XCF before messing around with them so that I preserved the original PSDs. Each theme will have it's own named XCF file as a backup. For example, the backup of the portrait background is named songs_back.xcf and then saved as back.png in a new folder for that theme.

Then once all elements have been done and saved in that folder I just made a zip file of it as an archive.

I would only bother doing the numbers from scratch if you wanted to use a different Font design, otherwise just retint the numbers that come in the examples folder.

Yea I always save my copies as other names. Was just wondering how you tinted them, didn't wanna go through the hassle of doing it from scratch.

And maybe I'll try the droid font on a flip clock =p

If Tama-Chan comes, I needa ask him something =p

I am just looking forwards to the new release and the full theming kit.

You can always PM Tama-Chan here like I did...

Phil.

I would but I don't wanna be too much of a hassle. Already tweeted him a couple times, but I guess maybe I'll have to lol

I just got a little preview going on. Hopefully it doesn't look too bad. Barely have any time to work on it haha but we'll see!

P.S.
If you have any ideas or anything like that, send me an email or hit me up on Google talk, whichever works for me.

Haha I will trust me. Glad you like it. Hopefully it'll be done this weekend!
G2G. PEACE!

Reason I want that skin is to show HTC that they did not win. We have the same thing but in a better version.

Looks like I will have to up my game a bit.

What's the best way to do a shiny effect?

Phil.

Depends but just grab any circle tool (selection tool) and make a half circle over the object you want to add the shiny effect to.

Then create a new layer, and fill that selection with white, and lower the ocapacity and then just remove the excess parts.

If you need help just msg me either via email/gtalk. Email is in other post.
