Becoming disappointed with the G4

Canceled my Note 5 order when I learned more about it and the lag (even though limited by Nova) on my Note 4 always irked me .. so I picked up the G4 last Friday.

I still have lag issues / missed touches with google keyboard and stock keyboard. Knock to wake is hit and miss and the battery is very bad. I love the smart lock feature for keeping the device unlocked when I'm at home or work but that only works maybe 75% of the time. I'm not sure what the deal is yet but I think this guy may be going back to Verizon.

What variant is your G4 specifically?

My G4 is the European H815 variant, and it's running like a champ.

Yup. VZW's finest.

Enable Developer options then open them up and and scroll down to the Drawing section.

Turn off all animations.

This should clear up your issues. It did mine. It's sad that VZW produces a crappy OS for the first few updates and then towards the end of year one finally push out an update to solve these issues. If I didn't have unlimited data... who am I kidding. Verizon still has the best signal here, so I'd still have VZW. I just need to hold on to a phone longer than a few months. They finally fixed the G3 with the last 4.4 update last year, and then broke it again pushing out the 5.1 update.

Thank you - still missing input - maybe the screen isn't sensitive enough with a glass protector on it ..?

Take it off and see how it does for a day or two. If you got the Verizon tempered glass, I've read a number of complaints about it (including the price). If it runs better without, try the Fosom or Skinomi. Both work great and run about $8. I'm using Swiftkey as a keyboard and have no lag issues.

definitely better but I get a lag every so often when typing - now if I can get my battery sorted out. I have a spare so I'll pop it in tomorrow and give it a few days. Right now I'm at 38% battery with 1 hour 42 min of SOT

The note5 should have less lag, since it will have the Samsung processer.

The s6 I have had very little/no lag

Heard that carrier variants have specific issues.

My unlocked unit hasn't had any issue so far apart from the camera not saving if you use the flash and exit the app too quickly.

Verizon cripples devices with whatever they put into the OS. I should know because I'm constantly helping my brother with his devices. He is going back to Apple this year because he says that Android sucks on Verizon.

I've set up 2 iphone 6's today and yeah, there is an appeal with simple and 'just works'. Appreciate everyone's comments and suggestions

...and it's going back tonight. My next door cubicle mate has a new G4 and his is doing the exact same thing.. missed key presses or icon presses, very frustrating.

If Apple could give me a working Hotspot that actually works with non-iOS devices, I would still be using an iPhone. I can't stand the VZW Android Lag.

Or play or download anything thing from Google drive links as well. After all, they command what you can or can't do on YOUR device, lol!
Not playing nice with Google products is not surprising. Doing that to the hotspot is.
