SORELY disappointed with S22

Just a thought.

Though your comment did get me to thinking however. I may not have completely turned the screen off when I put it back in my pocket, which could cause a significant heat rise. On the way back to the car walking 2 blocks to the lot, it turned out my phone screen was still on even though I thought I had turned it off.

Good. I may hang onto it then. If nothing else I can swap it within the next 25 days for the exact same model if I still don't feel comfortable with this one

I'm starting to lean towards hanging on because yesterday I was able to get 24 hrs 37 minutes and 7 hrs SoT, which was a huge increase from what it had been. That was still with mostly casual useage--web browsing mostly, couple phone calls, 30 minutes of maps usage and about 45-50 minutes of YouTube. I've yet to game or use streaming services on this phone. But it definitely looks more favorable tan it initially did. I havent had a chance to do much video recording since the other day, so I really need to test it with that again and see of whether or not it gets super hot again while doing so, or if the battery has optimized itself via adaptive battery. That one is a big test that needs to be passed. But overall it looks much more favorable now.

So is it safe to say that all the issues was caused by an App?

Can't say for sure yet, I think it's still going to take a few more days to say definitively what it was. Phone did get to 97 degrees just shooting a handful of still photos today though, so thats not a great prognosticator.

If it's cooler than body temperature then I think it's OK.

Yup seems to be the case with this one. Other phones I had, like the s9, s10, s20, they never did heat quite like that.
Here's the temperature of my S22 Ultra. I'm not having any problems with it.

Yeah I run strictly LTE/WiFi where I live. Tuscaloosa where my nephew's graduation was has been the only time I've had 5G service.
Ok just wanted rule that out
Might also start thinking about a fresh factory reset down the road.

It took a lot to heat up my S10. Zoom meetings for over an hour would do it. But other than that I don't recall it heating up to the point that I was worried. Some warmth is normal but when it's so hot it's really noticeable -- well...

Yeah I never recall my S10 heating up like this 22 does at times. My S10 never once kicked off a high temp alert. I really do miss that device....

Happy to report that this battery does indeed appear to be improving. I have gotten 7 hrs SOT with still 20% remaining and 17 hrs overall battery since last unplugging at 100% with no qu8ck power ups in between. It doesn't show in these screen shots bur I have an additional 2 hours of SoT as well since unplugging around 3:15 pm.yesterday, just forgot to upload the May 11th detailed report.

So adaptive battery does seem to be effective.

One question though, on my YouTube usage it says only 16 minutes active, but I have been in the app and watched a lot more than 16 minutes worth. The total time is over 2 hours and that's more reflective of what I've watched between yesterday afternoon and today. But wouldn't video playing be considered "active"? The way they phrase this stuff jowls is so confusing. But I digress aside from still having heating issues while shooting photos and video recording, the battery indeed appears to be improving in terms of both screen on time and overall life on a single full charge.

I'm now 95% convinced to retain it. Whereas last week it was 50/50.

I've been getting decent-enough battery life (coming from an iPhone 13 Pro Max anything else can only be 'decent-enough'). My S22Us don't run hot typically but this afternoon, using it out on the deck for quite a while, it did get warmer than usual. What was different? The screen brightness had to crank way up to compensate and that warmed the phone up a bit. It also drained the battery a lot quicker than usual...because of the cranked up brightness. Not a problem though...just interesting.

It was a superb phone!

It really was and I liked how it still had the heart rate and pulse oximeter built in. But I understand Samsung pushing those features into their wearable tech.

S10 was my favorite to date. Jury is still out and way to early with ghe S22 but it is seriously starting to impress after a rough start.
