Does anyone think that Best Buy would allow the use of their 12% silver premier silver coupon to be used with the Xoom. The coupon does say that it could be used with no contract phones.

Please post back if they do or not. The exclusions specify the iPad,contract phones, broadband cards, etc. but nothing specifies the Xoom. Should be interesting.

Edit: The caveat is they can claim that the Xoom also does not fall into one of the qualifying catagories either.

The manager refused to honor it. I guess they say the Xoom is classified more of a computer than a "phone". I didn't really push the subject. If they allowed the 12% I would've bought it on the spot. I was trying to go with the face its a non contract phone or a computer accessory but that was a no go.

I probably could have pushed that it wasn't listed in the exclusion so they should honor it but I hate dealing with Best Buy.

I will now just wait to see how the iPad 2 is looking or when the wifi version comes out.

On another note:
They do not know what would happen if I canceled the first months data plan the second I walked out the door. They could not confirm a refund or not.

That sucks that they wouldn't honor it. I would try a different location, but if you're fine with their decision I can respect that.

If I really wanted to I could push it harder and get the district manager to call me like I have done before. But its so much hassle with BB. I rather just not give them the business.

Well I was weak and went and bought one and can confirm it was a no-go here as well. I was also told by the BB mobile rep that this coupon would not work on the Galaxy Tab either.

I did call in and talk to Verizon though. I was told by the rep (and I will hold him to it) that I can cancel within their 14 day "worry free" period and not owe anything. No activation, no prorated, etc.

Now if I decide to keep it I can call in and "suspend" the account (note not cancel, suspend). The only thing to be careful of (he is not sure if the xoom will work this way or not) is you suspend in 90 day increments. So if you suspend it may start back up automatically after 90 days unless you call in again.
