Best Buy: Galaxy S9/S9+ Official Pre-Order Thread!

Preordered a VZ S9+in blue for myself and giving back my S8 which is 50% paid for so no trade in on that one. But my daughter has an S7 which I am trading in. Did that in store and was given the choice to apply the trade in to the monthly payments.

I'll find out when the both come in on the 16th (not counting on an early release) and pick them up to find out how well this is going to work out but was told I have two weeks to return the S7. I should be getting a mailer directly from Verizon to send back my S8.

A new charge/authorization hit my card at 12:06am ET this morning for my original order on March 2nd at 12:05am ET which is also still pending. Wonder if that's a sign. I placed a second order at 7:46am ET on March 2nd so if it's just another hold then I guess it will try again in 21 minutes but that also means I have a double hold on the funds.

I pre-ordered a lilac purple S9. I pre-ordered after March 2 though so didn't get the $100 off, but they still have $50 off. I didn't realize I was going to get the S9 until after March 2. I realized my financing plan doesn't end until October so there was no way I wanted to wait until then to upgrade. I paid off the remaining balance, and figured with a trade-in it kind of evens out. This also puts me on schedule with the Samsung S series releases, so next time I want an upgrade it should be around when another S phone is out. I ordered the Verizon variant. I heard Verizon doesn't let you apply the trade-in towards your financing plan, so I plan to use my S7 trade-in amount at BB directly on the finance plan. Plus I don't really like dealing directly with Verizon anyway, so we will see how it is through BB.

I'm really excited! Can't wait to pick up the phone and start using it.

I placed two orders for the Galaxy S9+ Verizon on March 2nd the first was a Midnight Black at 12:05am ET and the second for a Lilac Purple at 7:46am ET and a charge was placed on my account at that time. Those charges are still pending but this morning a new charge for the first order was taken from my bank at 12:06am ET and for the second order at 7:47am ET. Exactly 6 days and 1 minute since the original went through. Is being charged again happening because the order is processing? I know Sprint has shipped to a few as of this morning. But as of right now the funds are out of my account twice.

I just check my account my money was taken back out. Hopefully that's good news that it'll be shipping soon

I haven't been billed yet but I am also picking mines up in store. It says it should be ready on the 16th. I know there is an extremely slim chance it will be ready before hand so I'm not getting any of my hopes up lol... Still excited to get the phone and at least I'll get all weekend to play with it.

This was the response from Best Buy:

After reviewing both orders I did notice something slightly odd. It appears that both of the authorizations dropped off (they didn’t fail or decline but more so just disappeared). Due to that our system re-authorized your card which would explain why you’re momentarily seeing two charges. You’re seeing the original one that should fall off shortly and the new one. At this time you have not been charged for either order so if you were to cancel your pre-orders the authorizations would fall off your account shortly after.

Outside of that hiccup, everything on your pre-orders look great!

That doesn't seem right also. They always pre authorize your card then it falls off. That's normal. Then they re charged they card when it's getting ready to ship. That's standard. Maybe this rep is confused. Their not the most helpful or knowledgeable as I have called them before and been completely led astray.

Coming the S8/S8+ FAQ thread on Best Buy forums it seemed like Best Buy shipped the Friday before the release of the following Friday but some had a shipping hold until the day before release but others received Tuesday.... So hoping based on the charges recurring that it repeats itself and we see movement by tomorrow

Do you know if we will have to charge our card when we pick it up? I only ask because I have a gift card that I forgot to apply when I checked out and want to apply it to the purchase of the phone.

From any experience I've ever had of ording something online and picking up in store, you are usually charged at pick up. Also since in my pick up instructions it said to bring in the card I used. I'm assuming this will be the case and they'll charge my card at pick up. I'm sure you should be able to ask if you can use the gift card instead.
