Best Buy strictly adheres to the carrier retail store date. Even for mail-order.
I received my Note 8 from Best Buy over a week before the official release date. Mine was an online order. Many others also received their Note 8 early from Best Buy. People wh ordered store pick up had to wait for the official release date.
My phone was Verizon, but I remember this very well. I was going to be in Europe for the official release date so I was unhappy thinking I would have to wait. Instead I had my phone for my trip.

My 12:05am preorder I received an email from Best Buy with my Verizon installment agreement and on the My Orders on my Verizon account I now have a Device Id. Still shows status preparing and no change on my 7:44am March 2nd order other than preparing. Nothing on UPS My Choice.

I ordered a Verizon lilac 9+ in store. There is no device update on my Verizon page. Its interesting, the order does not show up on my BB order page. I guess cause its a order "reservation" and not a true order. So i have no way of knowing its true status. Anyone else who ordered in store have that issue?

I ordered one on line with a give back of my S8 and one in store with a trade-in of an S7. The in store orders don't show up on line but if you check your VZW account you'll see it.

The 12:05am ET order is Shipped awaiting ups pickup from Oklahoma I'm in southeast Missouri it says Thursday delivery. No updates on the 7:44am ET order.

Sweet. Right after I typed nothing es happening it changed to preparing and I got a coupe emails from them for my service agreement and return label. I feel asleep though, lol I work midnights. I'm sure it will ship today too then of yours did. At least I hope. But at least I have movement.

Well for the second order I got a text Best Buy Order Status: Sorry, there is an issue with the mobile package for order BBY01-xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Call 1-877-702-2211.
I called and she wasn't sure why after a 14 minutes hold so was going to send a message to backoffice support. Said may just be a feature change or time out. I go on my Verizon account and it shows the new device id in the orders but it also is acting like it's on a two year contract. She also said that it looks like a California store was processing that order which ups ground is 3 days. My first order is in Tulsa Oklahoma and ups ground 2 days.

From the Best Buy forums it sounds as though there will be no early releases (prior to the 16th) for those who chose in-store pickup.

I ordered the AT&T version and will be picking up in store. When I check my BB account, it says the order received and in progress. I am assuming that there wont be much action on my account until Friday when it tells me my order is ready for pick up.
