Best Buy not really selling the Verizon V20?

Indeed. Verizon requires a specific phone to get the "$300" which is really a small bill credit over the course of 2 years. Best Buy's promo allows for a much larger variety of phones that are eligible. The terms also state:

This implies that you will get $200 off your purchase immediately vs monthly.

Also, the phone is now available for order online only with a "Temporarily out of stock" notification. I would just order one at full retail and do a return rebuy to get the promo if you get it before the stores do.

i traded in an old blackberry 9930 got the giftcard right there. used the giftcard to pay off the phone taxes and the rest still have to buy whatever i want from bestbuy.

I've been going back and forth w/ BB in store management and corporate customer service on this. While the terms clearly state the gift card is to be used towards the purchase of the phone, they changed their POS system 2 weeks ago where the promotional gift card can only be issued after the phone has been purchased and activated. Apparently the carriers were unhappy that BB was undercutting them.

picked up my phone yesterday from bestbuy. the sales rep gave the giftcard before he even rang up the phone. like i mentioned above used the $200 towards the taxes which was like $65.34. maybe each store is different. who knows. i know with the note 5 i also traded in an old blackberry they gave me the $200 promo plus the actually worth of the blackberry so ended up getting like a $275 giftcard. this time around they only gave me $200 even though the bb site says the blackberry is worth $35

I ordered the Verizon one again from BB, since done with trips for a month. Wanted to lock in the $200 card in case it stops soon.

Unfortunately, after multiple calls to Customer Service they are sticking to the "Terms are Subject to change" provision. What I have yet to receive is an explanation for is if the Terms have changed, why haven't they updated those terms in the advertised promotion. The existing language is very clear yet is 100% contradictory to how it's now being administered. When I told them I work with contracts and that relying on "Subject to Change" language while making no effort to modify the outdated and conflicting language is lazy and deficient at best, fraudulant and deceptive at worst, it was crickets.

I stopped in a best buy while out of town and the mobile rep there said that if they get Verizon V20's in stock they would be more than happy to apply the gift card towards the tax and then the rest as a down payment on the device payment plan. Sounds great, but we've only got a week till the promo ends.

Apparently Best Buy is not expecting stock until after Black Friday sales. The V20 has sold better than expected and Verizon is keeping stock for themselves due to the Black Friday deal that the V20 is part of. Anecdotal information that supports this Best Buy feedback:

1. BB does not have any yet.
2. Verizon's leaked sale does include the V20
3. LG sales in US better than expected

If Verizon knocks $200 off with no contract (the sale if real, lists this) I will cancel my Best Buy order- again.

I thought the VZW Black Friday offer was only on DPP and when adding a line. The ad's been removed from online sources, so we'll have to wait and see for confirmation.

It was, specifically said DPP with new line of service. At least that's what I saw in the leaked ad. Since they pulled it, I doubt they're gonna change it. Their best deal right now is if you have 2 people wanting to upgrade so you can do the B1G1 50% off offer and then you could stack it with 2 eligible phones for trade-in.

Canceling my Best Buy order again. Two weeks ordered again and still no sign. The Black Friday story appears true. Verizon is holding out.

So, guess what I got this morning: an email confirmation my pre-order is now available in-store. The day after the B&O headphone offer ended. I'm even more convinced VZW was playing supply games w/ BB. It also now appears as if the $200 trade-in offer is also over.

That's terrible. VZW doesn't even have a good deal on the V20 for black friday unless you add a new line. Haven't found a good deal on the unlocked version yet either. I would try calling corporate to complain, but I doubt they'll do much.

Yeah I'm not seeing any good deals at all for the Verizon version. Sucks

After waiting on BB to get the Verizon V20 in, I gave up and decided to get the S7 for dedicated Gear VR. Works great for that and a surprisingly fine phone, but will keep using my Note 4. I waited so long for BB to get the V20 in, realized I am happy with my Note 4 as main device. Battery life with MM update and new battery is fantastic and prefer the display over the V20. Pics though are better on the V20, but point and tap are equal or better than the V20.

As far as camera, the S7 takes better pics IMO than the V20 and a bonus is the FM radio works :) BB deal got me $200 off trading my Tmo G1 in and a $250 BB card. Used $100 of that for the Gear VR. This is probably my best option, since the S7 is FAR better with Gear VR than my Note 4.

That is my positive spin :)

It's good that you made a positive spin out of it.
