Best Buy Pre-Orders

When you make such a claim, it would be helpful to mention what evidence you have, if any. Otherwise, readers have no way to assess the claim's credibility.

Last year, Best Buy had many S7/S7e pre-order pickups available four days before the official release date:

Ummm I work there. Unless there is an official change like there was last year, we have been instructed to lock up all devices until Friday.

No one is getting their phone early from retail stores, period. Samsung is partnered with stores like best buy on sales and marketing- i.e. large displays in the front. More importantly, Samsung own selling point of buying direct promises their customers they will receive their phones first, specifically before retail locations.

Last year, did you receive notice of the change long before the change took effect? Or were you notified as soon as you were permitted to start releasing them?

It was basically the day of the change. That morning they got approval to fulfill them early. As of right now, the communication has been the exact opposite for the s8

Exact opposite in what way? From what you're saying, this year's communication is the same as last year's was five days before the scheduled release date. Then, four days before the release date, you received permission to go ahead.

By the way, do you know if any Best Buy stores have received the S8s yet?

I'm chomping at the bit. I'm also hoping I don't run into a snag with the experience box.

As in they said to lock them up until Friday. I don't remember them specifically calling that out last year. Though I might have missed it, I've been through 100 different phone launches

I pre ordered from Best buy and I got a email saying I i pre ordered and my phone was reserved.

I hope you stick around this thread during the week - I have a feeling you are going to be very popular with those of us who pre-ordered with BB.

I work there too. I got mine preordered as well.

There was an email last year giving us permission to release the phones early.

I'm hoping if the carriers start releasing theirs, BB will let us release ours.

I am hoping for this as well... that is why I won't be mad if T-Mobile or others ship early.

Best Buy strictly follows the carrier's corporate retail store availability dates and not mail order ship-out dates.

When I get my phone at Best Buy, can I slip in my Sim card from an HTC to use on ATT ? Will I incur the activation fee? Will it work the same as if they put a new SIM card in?

I have to keep reminding myself that this $50 I saved is worth waiting for release date.

Amen to that!
I really hope we don't have to wait. My status just says order received still.
In my opinion it doesn't make sense for them to release the 2 previous phones early and then not to release this one early.

You can use the same SIM card and have no problem as long as you will be on the same carrier
