Best Buy Pre-Orders

Final update to my saga, for anyone curious. I finally called and spoke to a live human @ BB about my order (Silver S8/Verizon, ordered first half-hour after preorder went live to be SHIPPED, not in-store) thats been collecting dust @ Processing since Tuesday w/ no movement.

Gave her all my info and she came back that my order had "failed pre-activation" and that I should have been emailed to contact BB to correct it (Nope, never got an email.) Apparently it would have just continued to sit like that until I called them. (how nice!) Gave her my Verizon info and she said they would get it cleared and I would get an email "shortly" that the problem was resolved and with my tracking number. Verified they had the correct email.

Two hours passed...no email (again). Decided to call Verizon directly to see if they had used/taken/registered my "upgrade" or if they still showed me as eligible (or whatever that process is called). My "upgrade" status was still in-tact and no trace of anything in their system from Best Buy.

Called Best Buy back. Explained the whole mess again and the lady I got this time seemed to show no trace of me having called in two hours earlier, and nothing had apparently been done to move the order along any further. She verified that they had not put anything through to Verizon in regard to the upgrade eligibility. This is mind boggling. Order sits there for weeks and then just gets somehow tossed into limbo, and they seemingly could not have cared less.

So I told them where they could shove my order and a couple minutes later I received email confirming cancellation (wow, they actually were able to send me an email this time. Amazing.)

Flipped back to the Verizon website and completed their pre-order, which I guess I should have done in the first place. Delivery shown as being Monday, which is obviously sooner than the Best Buy garbage would have accomplished. At least I still have a "pre-order" with a shred of a chance of getting the Samsung GearVR promo.

Been a loyal Best Buy customer for years, but for now, they can Kiss my @$$. :mad: Never again for a phone.

TL;DR - BB f**ked up my order then forgot about it. I told them where they could shove said order, then pre-ordered direct from Verizon, then came here to rant.

Almost the same thing happened to me yesterday. But they called and told me about the same activation issue. Just said we're canceling your order but go to a store and pre order and it "should" go through fine. Before I hung up I already had the email.
 
Best Buy Associate just called to schedule me to come in tomorrow to active my phone in store.

I asked about just grab and go and he said no we have to activate in store.... I am going to have a chat with them about this in store tomorrow..

However, they did say I can take the sealed, unopend box with me and insert the SIM card at home. They just have to activate the SIM card in the store.

At least they gave you the courtesy of letting you know. I could have lived with that and let it roll. To leave mine in limbo without saying a word, not so much.

If you preordered in store, you HAVE to activate in store, otherwise they would be handing you a free phone as it's not tied to your account.

If you did online for in store pickup, you will get the phone and activation packet and can leave.

Interesting. I did in-store pre-order with in-store pickup, I have the email to go and get it, but no phone call to schedule an appointment.
 
So I'm at work at Best Buy Mobile and some customers come in from US Cell and they have their S8+. US Cell released theirs today as well.

They came in to buy accessories.

I got the email for failed pre activation today, so when I called and got it handled the person said it could take up til 48 hours to work. So who even knows if I will get my s8+ tomorrow.
 
Just because other stores are releasing them early doesn't mean they were approved by Samsung. They are just breaking street date.
I understand that. But this is 3 preorders in a row. So next time I go elsewhere. Not mad just a fact at this point.
 
I pre-ordered in store at the same time as a friend of mine. We are planning to go together tomorrow to pick ours up. He got a call today to set up an appointment but no one has called me yet. His appointment is at 6 tomorrow night. He has no car so I'm driving him. They better not give me a problem for not having an appointment since they never even called me.

Oh wait if you ordered online for store pickup I don't think you need an appointment and you can activate it yourself. But you ordered in the store. I think they call for an appointment for that and they have to activate it which is ridiculous.
 
UPS tracking says delivery this Monday. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

I know they said there was an error where you saw it on best buy's site when processing, but I haven't read reports of actual UPS tracking being wrong.
 
I preordered in store and no one had called me by this afternoon so I went online and scheduled an appointment that way.

Nice ! I did mine online for in store pickup. I can see it within the orders on My Verizon so.. it's tied to my account.

I can pickup and go... If my order updates any time from pre ordered to ready by tomorrow or sometime tomorrow lol.
 
Just preordered about an hour ago and immediately got an email saying it will be ready for pickup tomorrow. Going to go on my lunch break from work. Hopefully they don't give me any activation trouble as I won't have time to do it at lunch and I prefer to do it myself regardless.

Probably won't have much use for the VR, but the market will be flooded with these things and assuming they won't be of much value.
 
Finally got some movement on UPS and looks like it will come tomm. after all. Had a few phone calls with BB and they kept saying the dates are wrong on the site. They did pull through and had next day shipping to get it here on time.
 
I decided to stop in tonight, couldn't get the phone but got an appointment tomorrow at 12:30pm. Should go smoothly and I confirmed they have my phone. I had errands to run so no big deal. The folks at Henrietta best Buy were very helpful and I did not rant. So far it is happening as advertised.

Yes. Mine shipped yesterday UPS Ground. I had hoped next week delivery was wrong, but tracking is showing it taking its sweet time. Very disappointed that I preordered 1st of April and won't get it on release day or that they couldn't of at least shipped next day instead of ground.

Who knows, maybe they will pull through and deliver tomorrow. Hope your order arrives tomorrow too...best of luck!

Yeah, Sprint pulled something that appears to be very similar as whats happening here with the note 7. They shipped 2nd day air one day before the release date, and then insisted that UPS was wrong with the late arrival. Sure enough, everyone's phones ended up arriving on time.

GL to you too! On the bright side I would guess they would throw some type of bone to those who they missed release date deliveries on.
