I purchased a Motorola Xoom soon after it was released and have used it daily ever since. I would not replace it except that more and more apps no longer work. I used it for entertainment, music, books podcasts, amazon prime, etc. I am not very tech savvy and it needs to work with my current Moto G3 phone and the next moto G I buy next year. What should I buy?
Thanks in advance!

What do you mean when you say it needs to work with your current phone? Do you mean that you also want to access your Gmail, Google Drive, etc. on the tablet, the same as you would on your phone? You don't sync a tablet to the phone -- you sync the tablet to your Google account, thereby accessing the same information that your phone can see as well. You can install a lot of the same apps on your tablet, but not necessarily all of them, depending on the app.

This is important to know, because since it sounds like you're an Amazon customer, the Fire HD tablets may be a good choice. But Amazon devices don't give you access to Google apps. Midrange tablets include Samsung's Tab A series, which are decent, but they often only come with 16 GB if Internal Storage (which can get used up relatively quickly these days by apps). An SD slot doesn't help to expand app installation capacity.

You could consider one of Samsung's prior flagship tablets, like the Tab S2, which you can get for around $250 these days. Lenovo, ASUS, and Acer also make some decent budget-to-midrange devices.

Thanks for the response. Yes I am a Amazon prime customer but l stopped looking at their tablets once I learned I couldn't use the Google apps. I want to make sure whatever I buy will not be obsolete in 18 months.

As you may know, Android tablets have been on the decline for a while now. Samsung is the main player these days, and they either have quite expensive high end tablets (the Tab S3) or more reasonably priced but less capable ones like the Tab A or Tab E (which probably won't get updated very much). As Jerry Hildenbrand is fond of saying, you may want to consider a touchscreen Chromebook that has Android app capability instead, since the best Android tablets these days might actually be a Chromebook.

Yeah l have noticed that the bloom is off the android tablet rose. I will look into the Chromebook. It might be the smart way to go.
Thanks

instead of replacing my 2013 nexus 7 i ended up buying a chromebook 14. Great battery life, easy to use and in a platform that falls between my phone and the PC it fits in real well.
