Best new software feature: Bixby Routines...the future is now! What Routines do you have programmed?

From what I saw on YouTube it looks like you can set up some pretty cool routines similar to IFTTT. I could see myself setting up a couple of routines like when I get to work to turn of ringer, turn on vibrate & medium power save mode. I will give this a good look when I get my phone hopefully by this Friday (8/30).

this feature is something I will likely use a lot. IFTTT never really gave me what I wanted and AutomateIt Pro wasn't consistent. I'm hoping this feature will help with the things I need done without doing it myself.

I wish I could set the 'If' statement with the contingency that multiple conditions are met. For instance I would like the goodnight routine to be - If 10pm - 7am AND the phone is charging Then blah blah blah. Do I have to get tasker for that?

I wish we had more control over the effects of Routines. For example I'd love to be able to turn the lift to wake gesture on and off, so that it only turns on when my phone is at work (and therefore on my desk). Maybe a Samsung developer will read this post and be inspired. :)

I am intrigued by this, I just became aware of it this morning when I arrived at work and there was a pop up about it.. I will be exploring it more.

Cheers,
BR

You should checkout Bixby. Not Bixby home but Bixby voice. You can go to settings in Bixby voice and find the tutorials. It explains what Bixby can do and how to use it. Then you won't compare Bixby to Google Assistant. Because Bixby works with the phone's interface, GA works mainly with web based searches. (Two different assistants). I hope this helps you.
I threw up in my mouth after reading that.

the ramifications of giving my voice to anyone, them knowing everything I say or do, are far too staggering for me. most especially a foreign entity. that makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little.

Now where did I put my tin foil hat at..... THERE IT IS! Yeah it is off putting when you think about what nefarious things could happen.

I'm basing it on things that went on with Amazon and the Echo, and even as little of my voice as I gave them, after some of the reports of what they were doing with the files, I pulled the plug on all of them.

Google, well all we are to them is data to sell so... and Samsung... who knows where it will go or what they will do with it. call me paranoid, I'm fine with it. I'll keep my data to myself (think Facebook and Cambridge Analytics)

btw my foil hat is at the cleaners :D

I use as well. I think was introduced with One UI.

Bedtime - 10:30pm-6:00am - Do not disturb, blue light, always on - off. I use do not disturb instead of silence so at least family/kid can hear their ring if call late ;)

Driving - If connects to car BT - voice wake up, dolby atmos, read aloud notifications, wifi off, sound on, always on-on.

Home - when detect address, wifi on, sound on, voice wakeup on, always on-off, screen timeout 1 min

Work - Detect work address, sound vibrate, always on-on, screen timeout 30 seconds.

Yes but they are more of an OR statement. I need an AND statement between the contingencies. I want all contingencies met before the THEN statement. I want between 10pm - 8am AND charging THEN follow these instructions. Instead Bixby says... Oh, it is 10pm I need to follow these instructions whether I am charging my phone or not.

seriously? I just assumed that all conditions had to be met in order for it to run. shows what I know.

I've used Routines since the Note 9. I love it! My favorites are:

Walking >When I connect headphones >open Samsung Health >Open Spotify and play my Walking Playlist.

Driving >turn off wifi > connect to JVC unit >open Spotify and play Driving Playlist

Goodnight >turn on blue light filter >turn on do not disturb >turn off wifi

I'm Home >turn on wifi >turn on vibrate

I never messed with Bixby however after seeing yall talk about this feature it's something I might actually set up tomorrow and see what I can do.

It actually is an AND statement. All conditions must be met before the THEN. I've tested this thoroughly.

Thank you for the tip. I will look into this more.
