Best phone for a developer to test apps

Whats the best phone to buy on Verizon right now that would be good enough for testing app?

Will Samsung S4 be good enough ?

That would do nicely. But also consider getting a couple of older devices second hand if you can. It's good to try on things other than just jelly bean.

I tend to test on gingerbread (API 9) all the way to jelly bean (API 17) now. I think that encompasses the largest percentage of devices out in the wild.

I'm not a big fan of the emulator as a serious testing platform either
