Handsent has become a bloated, buggy, nearly non-functional, SMS/MMS app. I've been a fan and user of Handsent for a quite a long time. I was always happy with it's performance and features. And then... *ominous music*, they decided to "improve it".
Now I can't even get into my Handsent account (that I paid an annual fee for) and they don't respond to email attempts to get the issue resolved. They've already gotten my money so what possible incentive could they have to try and fix an issue that they're smart enough to fix?
These monkeys can now, not find their asses with both hands. Each and every update for the last half dozen or so, is so riddled with bugs that they don't even know which way to look in order to deal with the next problem.
There's no support. Their silly "cloud" is non-functional, their password reset/retrieval is non-functional, there's no response to emails, and they've just been incapable of getting their stuff together.
One other question though... What is considered the best PAID SMS/MMS app? I really don't trust the free ones because it's YOU that is being mined for ad data etc.
Had I backed up the last working version of Handsent, I'd not be scouring the internet now, trying to find a replacement for this POS.
I'm glad to have come across this thread. Those of you that posted reasons for your choices and comparisons to other offerings were the most help. I'll try some of these things and see how it goes.
I think I'm going to start with this "Slider" app that I've talked about. Textra looks pretty good too but I'm concerned about some of the comments concerning MMS picture sending. I would like for my text app to do this well. I'm not as concerned with interface bells and whistles so long as the UI is arranged well and easy to read.
I'll keep an eye on Handsent and see if they're ever able to pull their heads from their rear-ends. It's really too bad that they had to take a perfectly good app and destroy the thing.
