Best Stylus?

I'm thinking of forgoing the Note 8 and sticking with the S8. The main sticking point is the absence of the S pen and related software.

I've tried the rubber tipped stylus and it's just awful. I understand the metal mesh is somewhat better.

Any recommendations appreciated.

I've tried a ton and I end up coming back to the metal mesh ones. I've tried the active stylii ones, rubber, thin, disc (don't do those, they scratch!). Sadly, nothing comes close to the S-Pen :(

You will never find anything to replace the S-Pen. If it's important to you, get the Note 8. You can't turn the S8 into anything close to what the S-Pen and related software can do.

For me the metal mesh ones work on a tablet with the 'magnified writing box' feature in a few apps, otherwise the scribbling looks bad; on a phone the screen real estate is too small to be useful. Sadly, Samsung killed the best app they had for it (S-Note) and the underwhelming replacement (Samsung Notes) does not have the magnifying box. OneNote is heavily crippled on Android, and it also doesn't have the box. So for handwriting on a phone, I don't think you'll find anything suitable... not after having tried the S-Pen. There ARE Note alternatives from other manufacturers, too, if you don't want to wait for the Note 8 or don't want to pay the Sammy premium tag.
