Best "swyping" keyboard now that Swype is dead.

Why is it all the good stuff has to go away??? Flat LCD screens, IR Blaster, removable batteries, durable bodies, and now the best swiping keyboard I've used.

I guess this is what "they" call progress?

It's going away because it stopped being the best keyboard a long time ago. I had Swype (paid for it, in fact), but I moved to gBoard because it was so much better. More accurate out the door, and did a MUCH better job of learning my vocabulary. I didn't even bother installing it on my latest phone.

I have been a SWYPE user since my HTC Droid Eris on Verizon in 2010. Loved it. I am so accustomed to SWYPEing above the keyboard back down to the keyboard to capitalize and to using the 'x' & 'm' to the keyboard to insert an ! & ? to the end of as sentence, that it causes me to 'stammer' using any other keyboard. I hope that SWYPE gets sold to one of these other keyboard makers that will incorporate these gestures. Using Google keyboard, I have no easy way to scroll 'upwards' in this quick reply box; I have to precarious put my finger on the tippy-top line to go backwards (or forward same method), one line at a time. On SWYPE, I would press the squiggly line to the keyboard to bring up a extra set of keys for maneuvering. No one here came up with one keyboard and that incorporates any of these gestures, or functional equivalent. Until one of these apps incorporates the fluency of gesturing equal to the accuracy, all others PALE in comparison to SWYPE.

KeepItReal just summed up why I would disagree with you. I tried Gboard in the past. It was about the same accuracy, but nothing comes close to the added functionality of Swype with its gestures and secondary numerical and curser keyboards.

This would be a good time for a phone manufacturer to buy Swype keyboard for their phones. Swype would be a good upgrade to Samsung keyboard.

It was weird really. I thought Samsung would buy Swype because the premium version was preinstalled on the original Galaxy S, but by the time the S3 rolled out it was gone.

I remember that. Swype would be a better keyboard then Samsung's keyboard. That could change with no more updates.

I've been using SwiftKey for years but I'll definitely check out GBoard again after reading this thread (I'm a typer, not a swiper though).

If you're a typed, don't bother. Swiftkey's predictive capabilities are far better than GBoard. I mean there's no harm, but I doubt you'll switch. I think GBoard is just good at everything. It's not the best at all of them.

I must say, I did go to YouTube and view tips on using Google Keyboard. I encourage you to do the same. it does have some remarkable features. It does not have the easy way to drag The letter above the keyboard to add a capitalized word in the middle of a sentence (my biggest 'stammer'). But, press and hold the Google button for some extra features.

However my Google button is not appearing in this reply box, Message+, or in Chrome. My settings days I am using Gboard. What is going on?

I discovered my own answer. I haven't ever gone into Gboard settings, except to verify that indeed Gboard was the selected keyboard. It recently updated, so maybe something changed. In Oreo, it was settings, Language, Virtual Keyboard, Gboard and finally Searches to find Show Search and More toggle On.

Auto cap is on, but when I end a sentence in this Quick Reply box, it does not auto-cap the first letter. Weird. It auto-caps in Message+ and Gmail.

i like it auto color change with different app's, and i also like the theme's. spell check seem's good.
