Best way to transfer photos to external drive?

Hey all I'm looking to buy an external hd to store photos and im wondering what's the best one, easiest to transfer etc? Do I need a computer or are there drives i can just connect the phone to? I do have them in the cloud but I want another backup.

There are lots of external drives that can connect directly to a phone. I've been very pleased with my Seagate drive. Have no idea about 'the best' ones; surely opinions & models vary; you'll have to research—e.g. 'The Best Portable/Compact External Drives for Phones' &c articles & youtube vids—then decide which one you'd like to try.

I have the Samsung Portable SSD T5. Its super fast and can hold up to 2TB of data. I copy all my personal data from my old phone and only back up system related data when I transfer to another phone. It makes the whole process less painful.

I have the 1TB. I guess any USB-C stick drive will do.

Phone and Seagate external HD both connected to computer. Easy drag and drop.
