Best way to transfer pics and texts?

I transferred my photo's and everything else via android beam from my GS3 to my Nexus 5... Not sure if the Galaxy Nexus had NFC though???

That's not really transferring, it's backing up to the cloud :p
Easiest way would be to plug in your GNex to your PC and then transfer all the pics (Probably in a folder named DCIM)
Then plug in your N5 and transfer them back onto that phone :)

no it's using Dropbox as a transfer conduit.

Device X Photos------------->Dropbox----------->Device Y

plus it future-proofs him for the next time.

ya, i used sugar sync before...meh. i forgot you could drag and drop.

and i assume sms backup & restore for texts?

i just use helium for everything other than photos. for photos, google+ does the job just fine.

You can just transfer the pics to a computer then connect the Nexus 5 and transfer to the device. Otherwise, try one of the solutions posted above.

Regarding texts, use sms backup and restore from the play store. It's free, easy to use, and will let you backup texts, move the file to the new device, then re-download the app on the Nexus 5 and restore the backup.
