BestBuy: Galaxy Note 9 Pre-Order Thread

Just got my preorder acceptance for the AKG cans. Good deal, trading my S8 for $450 and getting the AKG cans. The 512 unlocked phone at B.B. worked out a better deal than the Verizon 512. BTW, Best Buy still has not got the V 512 preorder in yet. Keeping it open just to see how long it takes.

As I understand all the VZW network features don't work on the unlocked version of a phone.

Absolutely, 100% true. I rely on WiFi calling and VoLTE every day for my job. If you go with an unlocked device, neither of these work on Verizon or AT&T.

And, if I may...

Best Buy, get your **** together. Communicate to those of us that pre-oredered and still haven't received our devices. We understand that the supply is constrained, and that you are waiting for Samsung. That is not what you are telling us, though. "You'll get an email just as soon as it is on the way to you." is a terrible response that all of your CSR's have clearly been instructed to say. They *should* be pimping the new iPhone that is being announced next week as an alternative, if you were smart.

I don't use either feature, so no harm no foul.

VoLTE works fine. I do use that.

I think most of us have stopped paying attention so that when they do get here it'll be more of a surprise? Or if we aren't paying attention, it'll feel like they get here sooner.

Or went with another phone all together, lol

Not seeing the usual sales hyperbole from Samsung we usually get, a few weeks after launch.

Pretty much where I'm at. Or just waiting to see what Apple unveils next week and if there's anything that looks as good/better then will cancel and preorder that (likely somewhere other than Best Buy) instead.

I don't blame Best Buy for Verizon/Samsung's poor forecasting ability, but I do blame them for a complete lack of communication.

Must have sold well enough.

While it may have sold "well enough" the lack of hyperbolic press releases touting sales numbers would more likely indicate it hasn't sold as well as they hoped. More to the point...the retailers are probably sitting on a whole bunch of 128GB models while not yet able to meet demand for 512GB models. Not exactly the kind of thing Samsung would try to hype up in a press release.

If they hadn't sold well you would see a ton of discounts on the 128GB model leading up to the Apple event...IMO.

Long time looker - first-time poster. I am about to lose my mind. I pre-ordered my 512 on August 11th. I chose the ATT BOGO offer at BB. We are talking 2 512's - a huge order. I can not track the order on line, I get no answers when I call BB CS or talk to the store.

Any of you have first hand experience of a possible time frame on deliver from BB or any tactics which work to get reliable delivery information? When I get the phones (if EVER!) will the BOGO offer from ATT still be in tact?

Don't know how helpful this will be but what I've gotten so far is:

1. Best Buy has no idea when these phones are going to come in. They literally don't know if any of the provider phones (AT&T/Verizon/Sprint/Etc...) are on that day's truck until they start unloading it. As far as I can tell, not a living soul in the entire Best Buy organization knows the answer to "when will these phones show up?" because it's entirely out of their hands (Samsung has to deliver the phones to the providers who deliver their phones to Best Buy...and given that the Providers are reportedly backordered too, Best Buy may not get any for a good while). It's possible some of us won't see our preordered phones until October.

2. The "good" news is that any deals that were in place when you preordered should be honored. So yes, the BOGO offer should be intact. Also there have been reports that Samsung will honor the free headphones offer past the expiration date as long as you have some kind of preorder receipt or the like that can prove you preordered before launch. Though take that with a grain of salt as Samsung customer service is apparently notoriously unreliable.

Just thought I would share that my note has finally shipped as of earlier today. Blue Verizon 512 ordered on 8/13 on the bb website shipped to home. Hope this means others will see updates soon as well. Being shipped ups. I received the service agreement email right as it updated on the best buy website.

Extremely disappointed in Best Buy!

I pre-ordered the AT&T Note 9 512Gb variant on August 10th, 2018. I checked my email inbox as well as visiting the store once a week (starting August 24th, 2018) to ask if my phone arrived. On September 20th, I get a cancellation email saying my order was canceled. I immediately go to the Columbia, MD store to find out that they sold my phone to someone else (1 hour ago). Luckily, they had one other pre-ordered phone that was the exact same variant, so they sold that to me (probably belonged to someone else). However, the IMEI of the other phone was already registered to my AT&T account, so it took 2.5 hours to get it removed (I had to email proof, and call numbers in the store). I had to get it removed to get the upgrade promotion price, or wait another day for it to self-delete. When I asked why my order was canceled in the first place, they said it was an automated program that cancels after 8 days. I told them I never received the email saying it arrived or was delivered, then they attempted to shift blame by saying it went to my spam and I missed it even though none of there promotions nor the cancel email went to spam. Furthermore, when I called to check order status by phone it always said "Being Prepared".

Long story short, I will NEVER trust Besy Buy with another pre-order again!

After about one month, BB finally got my 512 Verizon. Of course, I've had the unlocked for three weeks now. Canceled the preorder.

Wow, so you have had the unlocked version, 512, for 3 weeks, and the Best Buy verizon one just came in? That's nuts.

I've "only" got the 128 lol but love it. It's unlocked-bought direct through Samsung and I've had since 8.22.
