Hello guys! FIREFOX FOR ARMv6 (YES. THAT'S INCLUDES US OPTIMUS S'.. GUYS.)
PLEASE THANKS/LIKE THIS POST SO THAT I MAY GET POINTS FOR MY AC PROFILE.
There has been some confusion as to whether or not the links were personally hosted and that I didn't source my links... I apologize.
These are NOT NOT NOT NOT my links.
I got em from here - Official ARMv6 Mozilla discussion - https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mozilla.dev.platforms.mobile/EcmL9mTAsM8/discussion
I know there are other threads out already that are for Firefox ARMv6 and there are probably going to be other threads about this lurking around, but I wanted to put it in a device's thread that Firefox for ARMv6 actually applies to...
Anywho's...
I am very excited to announce that I was searching on the Interwebz and found that FULLY WORKING Firefox for Android ARMv6 Processors is now available. Please keep in mind that Mozilla is working on improving some of the features of Firefox such as scroll and zoom.
Ad-on Manager and Ad-on's work great, and so does sync.. Thanks Mozilla! It syncs EVERYTHING Firefox.
There are two versions available.. Fenec and Nightly. These are kinda the same thing but not really.. Fenec is basically the stable build of Firefox for ARMv6 and Nightly is well.. Nightly. However one is "stable" and one is "nightly", they are BOTH still in Beta builds meaning that they ARE going to have bugs.
Instructions for Install -
These are APK Files. You need to drag both of them and/or one or the other to the SD Card of your phone, pull up File Manager OR APK Installer (In Market.. just search APK Installer) and tap on the file.. you need to have Unknown Sources ENABLED (you can find these in Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources).
It will successfully install.. hopefully
.. It installed on Kraven's CM7 and is working GREAT.
Download -

To Get Sync Working on your PC or Mac and your Android Device -
First, you need to setup a Sync account in Firefox on your PC or Mac. It's free.
Next,
Once you are in Firefox on your computer, you are going to have to go to Firefox Options.
After you do that, you are going to want to open up Firefox on Android device and tap the menu key and go to Settings and find the option to sync the device or pair the device. (No screenshot hence I have already done it.)
Make note of that code, or just keep your device unlocked until we are done.
Back on your PC or Mac, you are going to have to go to Firefox Options > Sync > Pair a Device...
Enter the code as your phone shows and Firefox will Sync the Device. You may notice that Firefox on your phone will automatically move ahead in the process.
Click Finish and you will be back to Sync options. Select anything/everything you want to sync between devices and hit okay.
To Force a Sync between Firefox and your Device -
To Force a Sync between Firefox and your device, go into Firefox on your computer and select Sync (it's in the Tools menu) (Sync NOW)..
AND AND AND!!
On your Android phone, open up Settings > Accounts and Sync > [The Firefox Logo; you can obviousally tell which one it is
]..
Tap on the Firefox Logo and tap the menu key... Tap SYNC NOW. Make sure that Nightly and/or Fenec are selected with a check mark in them...
That's about it guys! Thanks!
