I'm tired of this stock keyboard and the swipe keyboard is only a bit better. Can anybody recommend a better free keyboard? Preferably one friendlier to someone with larger thumbs. Thanks in advance.

I am using the paid version of SwiftKey3. And I highly recommend the app.

Swiftkey has a free version but it's totally worth paying for the paid version too.

I my self prefer the Swiftkey 3 paid version.

My vote is for SwitftKey3 as well, paid version.

Ditto. Looks like its unanimous. I used the free version for quite awhile... 3's where it's at.

Smart Keyboard PRO for the resizing goodness for us ManFinger'd folk and Keymonk for the simultaneous swiping action.

Has anyone signed up for the swiftkey VIP on their website? I guess they select some people from the list to beta test swiftkey flow when it comes out. I signed up and got an email from them three days ago. It looks like it's coming out real soon. Here is an excerpt from it:

Hi,

Thank you for registering your interest in SwiftKey Flow. We're very
pleased that so many of you are eager to help us test it out.

SwiftKey Flow is very nearly ready for beta testing. When it is,
you'll receive an email with instructions on how to download it and
how to leave us feedback. Your comments are very important to us -
you'll be a vital part of making sure that the public release of
SwiftKey with SwiftKey Flow is our best keyboard yet.

To make sure that you receive the SwiftKey Flow testing email and it
doesn't end up in your spam folder, please add feedback@swiftkey.net
to your list of contacts.

Pretty freaking awesome. I can't wait.

I am a fan of thumb keyboard. Used it on my Motorola Photon and am using it on my new GS3!

I've been using Smart Keyboard Pro for several months on my SG note. The resizable keyboard should help you greatly.
Best of all, the custom text feature allows me to create long messages with just a few keystrokes.
You can try out all of the features with the free trial and if it works for you switch to the pro version to get rid of the NAG messages.

I use GOkeyboard and I absolutely love it. The word predictions and smoothness of the interface are awesome. The best part of GOkeyboard is how customizable it is. I, along with many other users on here, have also changed from the stock messaging app to GOsms. Awesome notifications, widget and custom theme options to match the rest of my phone. They seem to make great products.

I tried swiftkey and it's also a great keyboard.... simply a matter of preference. I personally missed GOkeyboard when I gave it a shot, but some people swear it has features that cant be matched. Try them both yourself and decide, but definitely do not overlook GOkeyboard.

I'm trying to imagine typing with my thumbs but just can't make it work, especially on this larger screen. The phone is a bit more difficult to balance in one hand while typing with one thumb, so I don't even try. Personally, I love Swype and cannot stand having to peck-type on the screen. The stock keyboard has the swiping feature, but it's not QUITE as good as Swype. I tried Swiftkey when Amazon had it for free, but just couldn't get into it. If they offer the Flow version as a free upgrade for current app-owners, I'll give it a shot.

I tried all the (free) keyboards available and found swiftkey 3 to be the best for my style of typing. It was so good for the month I had it that I bought it....and on sale for $1.99 :D

Smart Keyboard Pro here. Love it. Didn't really like SwiftKey myself - it just didn't "feel" as nice as Smart did. Both have free trials nowadays. I think both Smart and Swift are worth the money - have a friend who really likes Swift on his GS3.

Swift key 3, worth paying for.
