Beware Samsung Trade Ins

My husband's TMobile trade in processed with zero issues. My Samsung trade in made it to Tennessee yesterday so . Hopefully no hassles - I forgot to take pictures but my phone looked brand new when I popped off the WSD screen protector and took off the case. Wiped it down and shipped back in original box using the same shipping materials my new phone came with.
I did the same. I had the original S21U box that came with my device. I put it in that and then repacked it with all the packing paper that came with the S23U. Let us know if yours goes smoothly. Mine should hit TN Monday.

There is way more reports of this on Facebook than there has been in years past, what the heck is going on? Yea I always take pics from multiple angles and video the device powering on before shipping. I only traded in a S7 for $100 so it would be no huge loss to me but damned. Mine was sent to the TN address and FedEx tracking said that they received it on the 23rd and here it is the 25th and I haven't heard anything yet. The main reason I order from Samsung is because you get the phones before the stores start selling them and the free credit for accessories. If not for that, I would just go to Best Buy...

This is exactly what happened to me yesterday. WOW! Can't be a coincidence. I called Samsung using the link in the email. The Samsung representative was terrific! I told him that I would send the pictures I had of the s22 ultra and that it was in perfect condition. Two minutes later Samsung dropped the chargeback fee and no further action was needed. Good to go. They accepted the $500 trade-in value. So weird that later that day I got another email that they had just received my s22 ultra and it was under review. There must be a problem with their system.

Unfortunately the problem with their system is they're crooks lol. I like their hardware but have absolutely no respect for them as a business. Samsung and Apple seem to be having a race to see who can get to the bottom of the barrel first... and at this point I think Samsung has finally taken a slight lead

Just got email my N20U trade in was completely successful!

I have been getting a new phone from Samsung every year and never had any problems... until this year.

I sent in my S22U - with the sticker still on the back of the phone showing the model number, IMEI, etc. - inside the original S22U box. Then, I got an email from Samsung that they were crediting me less because I sent in an S21U.

I contacted them immediately about their mistake and they said they would escalate it. Samsung emailed me yesterday asking for the IMEI number. I sent them the number, my order number from last year, along with photos pulled from the video I took of me packaging it up.

I'm not sure how you so obviously mistake an S22U for an S21U, but it seems fishy. Hopefully, they get this resolved and give me my full credit soon.

They did that to me when I traded in my Active 2 for the watch 4 they send me a picture of a totally different watch and tried to say I wasn't getting my trade in and I called and got it squared away. We dropped our phones off at Fed-Ex Saturday and haven't heard anything yet.

There is incompetence happening at these trade-in facilities that Samsung is using. Last year when I sent my immaculate N20U for my S22U, I forgot to take the screen protector off and I got an email stating that my screen was scratched up. I got in touch with Samsung immediately and told them to TAKE THE SCREEN PROTECTOR OFF THE ******* DEVICE AND YOU'LL SEE NO SCRATCHES!!!!!!!!! They sent another email back re-enstating full value.

Ouch, hey I'm not on the other end but I really believe and this is my personal belief so not a fact Samsung few phones to reject so they don't have to give you the full payout that's just my personal opinion... I do a video work up on my phones in the past but I passed on Ultra 23 had everyone but this one and usually I have someone sign off on it as a witness and I just don't trust them and I haven't never had a problem with the trade-ups I'm holding on to my ultra 22 tight though and one of the it one of the book it had me looking at the 23 but I think I'm going to wait for the next fold looks like he fixed the screen issues did I say it looks like?.

Got the email today that they received my s22 ultra. Two hours later I got a email saying I was going to be charged $155 because my screen was cracked. Lol my phone was perfect! So I called Samsung and talked to a lady and she said she was going to watch the trade in video? Two mins later she get back on the phone and tell me the phone is good no broke screen. Told me I would not be charged the $155 now. What a joke I’m glad they fixed it.

Wow, this is a terrible trend. I got rhe same email. I went several models trading in phones with no problems until these last two models. I really liked the program because it saved me the hassle of selling it myself on swappa. I guess I will have to start selling myself again.

I'm glad I video taped my phone. That's a really smart idea and, I will be doing that from now on, whether I sell myself or trade in.

It's not just trade-ins. I RETURNED my 1 TB phone and cases to Samsung. I didn't realize they were going to the same place my husband was sending his trade in to. We video recorded his trade being packed but not my phone being returned.

They sent both of us emails saying they were rejecting our transactions.

They sent me a video of them unboxing my shipment. The four cases were there but the box my phone was supposed to be in was empty!

So it's EVERYTHING going to Coppell Texas.

Wow. I've been following Samsung forums since Note 7 and every year same thing with rejecting trade-ins... but I have never seen it like this. Insane.

Just imagine... forum members are just a small sample of owners. Just imagine how many users and phones they are rejecting. Gotta be insane.

Cash Grab?

Makes one think.

1. The trade-in values that were offered (OUTSIDE the carrier promotion trade-in credits) have been WAY LOW compared to previous years
2. They have a trade-in center that is willing to "reject" many phones so they can charge back the pittance they have offered
3. The VAST majority of the user base are not on forums like these, so they suck it up and say "Well, it's only another {insert pitiful amounts here}, it's not worth arguing"...
4. For those that fight back, cave in...
5. For the majority of them user base that won't fight back or cave after some smart CS Rep talks them down... $$$

You have to wonder, really, what they are thinking. It's either the center where the returns are going or Samsung or both.

Honestly, with most of these reports coming out of Texas... the state that is the most independent and also the one state with the LOWEST REGULATIONS IN THE COUNTRY, it makes sense that they can get away with this in Texas.

Now, I have lived in Texas (Ft. Worth and Houston) and can honestly say, as an Asian American, I did not enjoy my time there and did not hesitate when given the options to leave. I have many friend still in TX, and not everyone there is bad... but damn...

It can be true. But.. don't mess with Texas. ;)

I'm very sorry. Can you file a police report? Sounds like a crime to me. Someone opened the box, took your phone and sealed it up again.
