I'm no expert with screen sizes and aspect ratios so a little latitude please....

With Apple rumored to be releasing a larger iPhone X this year, and Samsung having been the top dog in screen size since the original Note, any chance you all think Samsung would let Apple take the lead on this?

Or do you all think Samsung will make the Note slightly bigger? I'm still wanting a slightly wider form factor myself.

If I'm not mistaken, Samsung makes the screens for Apple, so they'd certainly be in the know if Apple is going bigger.

Thoughts??

it would be very easy for samsung to do a 6.5'' and I hope they do.
reduce or get rid of the bottom bezel altogether, maybe try and reduce the top bezel a little and and rid of side bezels completely, maybe even slightly less curve.
that would make a 6.5'' and still the phone wouldn't be as tall as the Note 8

Probably not the note 9 but in the note 10. I am still hoping for 7 inch like the iPad mini size. That'd be perfect. Phone / tab / mini computers replacement. ♡

Yes, please do a wider display 16x9. The iPad mini ratio.

While I enjoyed the form of the Note 8, making the 9 a little wider and taller would not be a bad decision.
Considering it would also make more room available internally for a larger battery and other features.

A 6.5" 18.5:9 I could see, but not this year. I think they said late last year they already ordered the same size panels they used in 2017. They are might be able to shave off a mm or two from the top and bottom, but I think we're looking at the same panel size as the Note8.
The Note8 doesn't even look feel big any more. I think. 2/10" bigger is not too much to wish for.

I've been a huge fan of using the Note series and started with the Note 2. I would like a larger Note 9 too. Wider screen but not much taller. Having a wider screen would enlarge the keyboard too. I don't like the curved screen. I'd rather have it flat for more viewing capacity and so that screen protectors fit better. Contacted a company I've used for years to order a screen protector for my Note 8, and they won't make one for it due to the curved screen. Too many issues with the screen fit they said. Don't like reading along the curved screen edges. Would like to have the speaker on the front too.

Get rid of curves. Return to 16/9 ratio. Note is a business model & shouldn't have silly glass back and curved sides. That should be for the pretty galaxy S series

I partially agree with you recDNA, but I still remember the backlash against the Note 3 an Note 4 as "plastic" and "cheap looking" by many reviewers who valued style over substance in phone design. And the Note stopped being just a business phone long ago, its a flagship and innovation showcase for the companies technologies moving forward.

I remember those reviewers, those same people review Samsung phones nowadays and criticize glass back for fingerprints, but rave the Google Pixel's ugly phone. Samsung is the best looking and built phone there is. I love the Note 3 & 4, plastic and all. Real Samsung users never complained, only "reviewers" did.

Note has always been an upgrade over the S line. And to be premium it had to be a glassback. Note Sales would tank if the S line was the more premium phone.

I don't define glass as "premium". I would call it a silly fad. It adds nothing but fragility even INSIDE a case. It's like gluing beads in a phone or little sprinkles. I would consider it an upgrade if it had carbon fiber or another tough as nails material that still allows wireless charging.

Note began as there serious version of the S line. The we mean business pocket computer does everything version. Put in a super processor, flatten the screen, return to practical screen ratio and I would add $200 to whatever the s9+ is going for.

Market it for science and business. Market the s series with emojis that look like your face and other useless extras.

Exactly, or complain that Samsung needs to "up their game" by comparing to the iPhone, then when a new phone comes out complaining that its "copying features from the iPhone".

I still have my Note 3, and carry it around in what would be considered a butt-ugly Zerolemon case.
Why? Because that case holds a 10000Mah battery and I don't care how it looks, I get the phone for how it WORKS. Something that many of these 1 time reviewers seem to overlook.

If they decide to go a route like that, i would prefer they do a note and a note +. Some of us are happy with our screen size. If I want bigger, I can always carry around my laptop. I prefer my phone to still be able to function as a phone and fit in my pocket.

Yeah for me I think the Note 8 is a good size, I don't think I could fit much bigger in my pockets without it being an obstacle.
