Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

I went to my local Verizon store to mess around with the D3!!! Man this thing was fast and so smooth no lag at all. the 3d effect looked Great! Boy I want the Bionic more now then I ever did!!! Omap4 makes this one powerful phone!! When you click to go to the App draw it moves horizontally... Blur is much better but there is a lot of bloatware on it for Verizon!! Come on Verizon please release the Bionic early. I think I needed a bib I was slobbering so much over the D3. The guy tried to talk me into getting the D3. I told him I am waiting on the Bionic!!! He said he was too!!!

Still messing with my wifes D3 trying to get a fix to hold me over till bionic. love the small taste I am getting messing with it.

Yeah the D3 is a nice piece equipment indeed. If its a preview of what you guys will see with the Bionic you're in for a treat.

Not possible unless all of the pictures of the device are fake. A 960x640 device would not have an aspect ratio close to 16:9.[/QUOT

Well everything right now is a rumor so I wouldn't say its not possible nobody knows what moto will do.

Sorry, but that's just not true. It is not physically possible by definition to put a 960x640 display in a 16:9 format. That's never going to happen from any manufacturer- Motorola or anyone.

960x640 would be a 3:2 ratio phone. It would not look anything like any the phones pictured in any on the various iterations of the Bionic.

Its possible. It depends on what moto wants to do with that extra real estate. Like I said before, it would look silly but they could reserve that extra pixel space and dedicate it to the software buttons and the functional section of the screen would be for our viewing pleasure.

If the Droid Bionic is indeed coming in about 3 weeks, don't you think it's already been churning out of some factory in China, been packaged and is in a shipping container on it's way across the Pacific right now?

The talk here and there about issues with GPS or other wise seems silly. All indications are that it's coming on the 4th of August and if that's true, some units must already be headed here....if not already in Verizon's corporate hands.

There wasn't much floating around about the D3 until it went on sale for direct fulfillment so I'd assume we won't actually see anything about the Bionic until the last week of the July.

720p would fit very nicely!

The anticipation is killing me. If this thing is as awesome as I hope it is then my Windows phone is going in the Susquehanna River.

I was thinking the same thing. There should be quite a few built and ready for sale :-)

I haven't. But you commented that 720p would fit nicely with the rumored 960x640, which it wouldnt because there arent enough lines vertically or horizontally.

Obviously if it was 960x640 it wouldn't be 720p. I'm saying the 720p resolution would fit the form factor.

Droid Bionic by Motorola Looks Set for August Launch - infoSync

Droid Bionic by Motorola Looks Set for August Launch By Sindre Lia, Tuesday 19 July 2011

FCC documents indicate that the Droid Bionic by Motorola is scheduled for an exclusive smartphone release slot in August.

Verizon Wireless is drumming up the release of the Droid Bionic by Motorola through the recently launched alert service, where you can sign up to receive e-mails with details and launch dates. However, while the page only says "Coming This Summer" as far as a launch is concerned, a document from a retailer earlier this summer suggested that the exact release date would be August 4. The same document claimed that the Droid 3 by Motorola would be released on July 14.

While Verizon Wireless started selling the Droid 3 online a week earlier, on July 7, it did indeed become available in stores on July 14. Droid-Life reports that the same document has now appeared from a new source working at Walmart. Interestingly, before this document re-appeared, Droid-Life had heard from sources that Verizon Wireless wouldn't release the Droid Bionic until September 1.

Will you have to wait until September 1 to get your hands on the latest and greatest 4G LTE smartphone? Well, it turns out that photos of the Droid Bionic in FCC's database will be made public on August 7. Clearly, Verizon Wireless plans to make some sort of move prior to that date, whether it'll be an official announcement or release. And we don't think the Samsung 4G QWERTY slider will be released until later this year.

If you ask us, the Droid Bionic looks to be scheduled for an August launch, and we imagine the alert service Verizon Wireless has set up will produce some details sooner rather than later. Last year, the carrier released the Droid 2 on Thursday, August 12. As far as we remember, it was the exclusive smartphone release on Verizon that month, and right now everything points towards the Droid Bionic having received that honor this year.

Any chance they could sell out? I think the DINC1 was out of stock for several weeks after launch if I remember right.

That was because they used amoled screens and samsung couldn't produce them fast enough since at the time that's what they were also using. That is why most manufacturers use lcd now since they are more readily producible and don't have the types of shortages they had with amoled.

Interesting...

Motorola Dinara To Follow Droid Bionic With 13MP Camera, HD Screen - SlashGear

Motorola Dinara To Follow Droid Bionic With 13MP Camera, HD Screen
Rue Liu, Jul 19th 2011 Discuss [0]

The much anticipated Motorola flagship smartphone, the Droid Bionic, has yet to arrive, but details on a successor are already surfacing. Codenamed the Motorola Dinara, this next flagship phone is believed to be similar to the Droid Bionic but with even beefier specs, including a 13-megapixel camera and a full edge-to-edge HD screen.

The folks at Droid-Life were tipped to this development and believe that it makes sense given Motorola’s empty winter release schedule following the Droid Bionic. The Motorola Dinara is said to look identical to the Droid Bionic in styling, but will be much slimmer and lighter. Additional details revealed suggest that it will sport a TI processor, 1GB RAM, a lock button, and an internal non-removable battery.

The Dinara will likely run Android Gingerbread since Ice Cream Sandwich isn’t quite ready. It could end up on multiple carriers although it is currently being tested for Verizon’s network and will likely support 4G LTE.

Droid-Life also points out that “Dinara” is the name of a mountain range, which is typical of Motorola’s naming scheme, exemplified by previous device codenames: Olympus, Everest, and Etna.
