I am going to be one of those people who won't go with a newer phone because of this until I absolutely have to. It's a feature that IMO is essential. I don't care if some people don't use it or not, if you have a sim card slot, which most phones do, you can easily drop it in there. What will it cost, 5 bucks for Samsung to do this? I take tons of pics of my kid. Currently, right now, I have around 4000 files worth of images/videos on the SD card in my Note 10+. Now, if I didn't have that SD card, imagine how much space would be left on a phone if I had the S22 Ultra or something like that? I take a lot of 4K 60 FPS videos, so I would assume not much. 512gb versions of devices have always been out of reach due to cost for me regardless. I used a Oneplus 8 for a short time awhile back which only had 128gb of memory and no SD support. Well, that was one of the most annoying things ever having to constantly delete things because I would come close to running out of space. It's just convenient all around to have the option for expandable memory. That along with the headphone jack are the two great features that cell phone manufacturer's have removed in recent years IMO. But at least with the headphone jack, you can use an adapter and it works about the same or similar. There is no alternative to expandable memory.
When my Note 10+ is no more, I will get something like Note 20 Ultra or LG V60 due to expandable memory support. Samsung is just being greedy and following the lead from other companies like Apple and Oneplus and I don't care for it at all. It really cheeses me that Samsung allows for SD cards in their budget devices, but not their flagships. I certainly wish LG was still around because despite what negative views people had on them, they always did their own thing and put SD card support as well as headphone jacks in their flagship devices.
